Pekoflam HFC is especially suitable for flame retardant back coatings of synthetic fibre based home textiles and high-performance technical textiles. The flame retardancy of the samples was characterized by the spray method and the vertical burning test. The results indicated that the flame retardant had excellent flame retardancy and durability for cellulosic fabrics. The cotton knit fabric treated with Pekoflam HFC obtained the optimum flame retardancy with the decreased char length. Combustion behaviors of treated cotton fabric were tested by manual observation. After treatment, it found that the ignition time increased, and the values of total heat release, heat release rate and mass loss decreased. The strength and durability of treated fabric were studied by tear force test and washing durability test, respectively.","PeriodicalId":17152,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Textile Engineering & Fashion Technology","volume":"119 5 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84030025","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

If one wants to meet the comprehensive customer requirements, it is no longer sufficient today to develop a product that focuses only on the functional aspects, but it must also fulfil the sensory requirements at the same time. In this paper, a systematic approach is described that first describes the objectification of customer language for describing the textile haptics of automotive interior materials (11 headliners and 15 seat materials). For this purpose, ten textile-specific descriptors were developed in an expert panel. The descriptors used and the measurement of the human-haptic system are summarized in 4 main groups: 1. warmth/cold sensation, 2. friction properties, 3. deformation, 4. surface/topography. Furthermore, the human-tactile parameters (pressure, speed) that humans exert when touching textile surfaces were determined. The human-sensory product evaluation of the textiles was carried out with 116 test persons. Comparative statistical analyses of the technical parameters (e.g. roughness, friction coefficient, wetting index, deformation) and the human characteristics made it possible to create a prognosis model for determining the quality perception of textile car interior materials.","PeriodicalId":17152,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Textile Engineering & Fashion Technology","volume":"377 1","pages":"79-85"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80587214","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Alum and ferrous sulphate mordants were with the following mordanting methods; pre, simultaneous and post mordanting. Color fastness was used as a basis to evaluate the performance of each method. Color strength imparted on fabric was used as a basis to optimize the following selected dyeing variables viz: temperature, dyeing time, material to liquor ratio (M:L), and mordant concentration (o.w.f). Mordant dyeing under optimized conditions improved color strengths and fastness on both cotton and silk fabrics. According to the optimized variables, silk fabrics required a little more heating (80˚C to 95˚C) for a longer time (≈ 1hr 30mins) than cotton to achieve optimal strengths of color. The fastness obtained for various fastness characteristics on both fabrics dyed under optimized conditions varied from fairly good (3) to excellent (5) with cotton giving better fastness. However, silk recorded better color strength in term of k/s values in the range of (110 to 260) and more lustrous appearance was observed on it. Dye from M. lucida plant species recorded overall superior color characteristics on both fabrics and with both mordants.","PeriodicalId":17152,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Textile Engineering & Fashion Technology","volume":"17 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85641571","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Water is a fundamental resource for the survival of living beings and is becoming increasingly scarce, with projections showing that one in four people on Earth may be suffering from extreme water scarcity by the year 2025. Irrigation is the artificial application of water to the soil in order to maintain adequate moisture for the growth of a given crop. Among the various types of irrigation, underground irrigation is promising for use in regions with water scarcity, since water can be transported directly to the plant roots, with little loss due to surface evaporation, as happens in other types of irrigation, such as sprinkling. Thus, due to this growing water scarcity and excessive use of water by agriculture, and considering the importance of irrigation for the promotion of food and nutritional security of populations, this work presents as an alternative the use of textile waste for an application in agriculture, proposing a sustainable solution for the destination of waste from the fashion industry that are usually dumped in the trash, generating environmental problems. The development of the simple technology of subterranean irrigation based on textile residues, presented here, led to the rational use of water in constructed experimental seedbeds, without apparent damage to the development of crops, which may strengthen family farming and have a significant impact on the economic growth of the region, if the technology is applied in scale. In general, all the experimental field results demonstrated that the devices developed with pieces of synthetic textile waste were able to transport water to distant areas of the soil, keeping it moist at root level and contributing to better growth of the tested plants. In other words, all the devices constructed to enable subterranean textile irrigation by capillarity worked adequately, in a qualitative analysis. The idealized and tested devices have in common the fact that they are grassroot technologies, low cost, easy to build, implement and maintain; simplicity; possibility of mastery of the technology by the beneficiaries themselves; and generators of shared knowledge between the proponents and the beneficiaries. In short, potential generators of social impact for this population that needs inclusive solutions so much.","PeriodicalId":17152,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Textile Engineering & Fashion Technology","volume":"69 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90467332","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

All infants can benefit from the use of Kangaroo Care (KC) or bare skin-to-skin contact between caregiver and infant. One of the key principles to getting the most from KC is that is must be performed for at least one hour according to the World Health Organization. Yet, the duration of KC is rarely measured. This study explores the use of a simple device, a conductive thread stitch sensor coupled with a pair of magnets and a microcontroller, to measure the duration of KC automatically. For this study, a single subject used the sensor with a specific KC garment and performed KC with a weighted doll. It was determined, that when comparing manual timed values of the duration of KC to the sensor values, there was 6.43±5.67% average percentage difference. This proof of concept shows that this simple device can be used to determine the duration of KC in an effective manner.","PeriodicalId":17152,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Textile Engineering & Fashion Technology","volume":"57 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86841735","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These herbal dye cloths are more eco friendly products. It is give non-toxic, chemical free product and this does not harmful environment nature. Herbal textile is dyed entirely with herbal extraction, without using any sort of chemical. The herbs used different from vegetable dyes as they are not only natural but also have medicinal value. These herbs are applied directly to the fabric with the help of natural ingredients, So that the medicinal value of the herbs can be kept intact, because synthetic dyes large amount of waste and unfixed colorants poses serious health hazard and are disturbing the eco balance of nature. Environmental issues in the production and application of synthetic dyes once again revived consumer interest in natural dyes. In this research work we have applied natural herbal dyes on cotton fabrics surface. This work has used natural herbal dyes like turmeric, aloe vera, neem, beetroot, pomegranate and onion. Edible gum and cow urine has used to improve in colour fastness and dye absorbency performance.
