The present studies aimed to develop the Alcohol and Cannabis Simultaneous Use Scale (ACSUS), a comprehensive self-report measure of SAM use frequency, quantity, and problems in college students.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>College students at two Midwestern universities who used alcohol and cannabis (Study 1: <i>N</i>=534; Mean age=19; 71% female; 88% White; Study 2: <i>N</i>=258; Mean age=21; 81% female; 85% White) completed the newly developed ACSUS.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Exploratory factor analysis (Study 1) revealed the ACSUS fit best with 9-items representing two factors: Factor 1 measures frequency and quantity of SAM use, and Factor 2 measures associated problems with SAM use. Internet-based mail-delivered harm reduction services could overcome barriers to in-person SSPs. This manuscript describes Needle Exchange Technology (NEXT) Harm Reduction, the first formal internet-based mail delivery SSP in the US.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>We examined the trajectory of NEXT's growth between February 2018 and August 2021. Descriptive statistics were used to characterize program participants. All analysis were run using STATA statistical software.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Over the course of 42 months, 1,669 unique participants enrolled in NEXT. The program distributed 1,648,162 total syringes with a median of 79,449 syringes per month. Most participants ordered multiple times (61%); 31% had more 5 or more orders (upper range = 48 orders). The total number of syringes per month and total number of first-time syringe orders per month increased steadily over time, particularly after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>The online platform and mail-delivery model appears successful in reaching PWID at high risk for harms from IDU. Past 30-day drinking days and number of drinks per drinking day were assessed from baseline to follow-up. At follow-up, participants reported drinking to cope with social isolation and pandemic-related stressors.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Pandemic-related stressor prevalence ranged from 5.5% (evicted/lost home) to 72.6% (worried about education) and 27.1% drank to cope with social isolation during the pandemic. Respondents who did (vs. did not) report pandemic-related coping drinking were more likely to increase past 30-day drinking days and drinks per drinking day from baseline to follow-up after adjustment for possible confounders. Serotonin-2c (5HT2c) agonists have preclinical and human laboratory evidence for potential efficacy for CUD. We assessed the tolerability and effects of lorcaserin (5HT2c agonist) on CUD.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>In a 10-week, open label, uncontrolled trial, the tolerability of lorcaserin was tested in outpatients with CUD. Adverse events (AE) were assessed weekly. Cannabis use was assessed twice weekly by the Timeline follow-back and quantitative urine metabolites.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>17 participants enrolled, and 14 received medication. Participants' average age was 35 years; majority were male (N=12). The medication was well tolerated in males. There were no serious adverse events (SAE). The most common AE's were headache/migraine (N=4, all females), anorexia (N=3), and irritability (N=2). Participants decreased their frequency of cannabis use significantly (p < 0.001), adjusted for baseline use. By the end of the trial, participants decreased by 1.76 (SE=0.47) cannabis using days/week. Average daily amount of cannabis and urine THC metabolite levels did not change significantly.</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>Lorcaserin was well tolerated in males but not females suggesting possible sex differences.
