For doubly-selective channel, the BEM is adopted to reduce the estimation complexity. For non-stationary channel, a channel estimation based on EKF which is able to jointly estimate the time-varying time correlation coefficients and channel impulse response (CIR) is proposed. For further improving the channel estimation accuracy, a ‘filtering and smoothing’ channel estimator structure is designed by introducing the RTSS into channel estimation and interpolation. Simulation results illustrate that the proposed BEM-based EKF-RTSS method show better estimation accuracy, robustness and bit error rate (BER) performance than the traditional methods in high-speed scenarios.","PeriodicalId":170216,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126290713","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A tier-two VLC-RF system offers the solution to the future communications system that puts together VLC to support big data rate, enormous bandwidth and RF to support dependable mobile connectivity. In order to improve the performance of such a heterogeneous system, vertical handover (VHO) is critical. In this article, we present a VHO scheme based on Markov decision process (MDP) that maximizes the quality of experience (QoE) of a user equipment (UE). When UE makes a handover between VLC and the RF network, the influence on the UE’s QoE may be positive or negative. The handover decision is made in order to enhance the benefit on QoE and reduce the cost of handover of the user. From the simulation results, our proposed VHO method attains a higher QoE and has the least handover delay cost when compared with benchmark schemes.","PeriodicalId":170216,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"176 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115919609","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditional digital beamformers require plenty of RF chains so that large power consumption is inevitable. Moreover, sophisticated amplitude-phase design of digital beamforming in baseband will lead to high computational complexity. Therefore, we propose a max-min analog beamforming algorithm named as Epigraph-Relax-Bisection-Decomposition (ERBD) for HAP-based MU-MIMO communication systems, which achieves less power consumption compared to digital ones. The scheme uses a semi-definite relaxation (SDR) approach to approximate the quadratically constraint quadratic programming (QCQP) beamforming problem. Simulation results show that the proposed ERBD algorithm outperforms the traditional analog beamforming algorithms. ERBD is suitable for power consumption limited HAP-based communication systems.","PeriodicalId":170216,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131339797","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Constant envelope (CE) precoding, OFDM modulation, and PAPR reduction are jointly implemented by solving a optimization problems in multi-beam (i.e., angle division multiple access, ADMA) systems. The proposed simplified iterative discrete estimation (SIDE) precoding scheme exploits the characteristics of massive MIMO-OFDM-ADMA system model and efficiently decrease PAPR effect with relatively lower computation complexity. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed solution can achieve nearly optimal PAPR reduction performance, and scarcely any symbol error ratio (SER) performance loss.","PeriodicalId":170216,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131373041","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recommender systems has been used to assist business managers to make decisions on choosing the proper assignee to handle current task. Nevertheless, the problem of presenting the recommendations of business process has not been studied. We designed a novel transition flow diagram to present the details of business process, and based on which, we proposed a predictive analytics system, OperationFlow, to present and explain recommendations of assignees. We demonstrate the usefulness and effectiveness of OperationFlow through a series case studies with system managers in an enterprise context.","PeriodicalId":170216,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132350840","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For 3D channel model, the elevation angle should be accurately included. Conventionally 3D channel is modeled with an assumption that the mean elevation angle of multipath is coincided with the line of sight (LOS) direction. To investigate its authenticity, we conduct extensive 3D multiple antenna field channel measurements with 100 MHz bandwidth in a typical urban microcell (UMi) scenario. The elevation angles of each multipath is extracted from the measurement data and its statistical propagation characteristics are analyzed. It is found that for LOS case, this assumption holds. However, for none line of sight (NLOS) case, there exists an elevation angle difference between the mean and the line directly connecting transmitting and receiving antenna, which is defined as elevation angle offset. The performance of the 3D channel model with the elevation angle offset is validated in terms of channel capacity comparing to the 3D channel model without angle offset. Results show that the 3D channel model with angle offset fits the real measured data better.","PeriodicalId":170216,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133962806","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the transmitter, each user’s modulated symbols are spread by a complex-valued short spreading sequence and then sent simultaneously on the same frequency spectrum. We design spreading sequences via maximum-Welch-bound-equality (MWBE) to minimize the maximum cross-correlation amplitude. Theoretical analysis on cross-correlation and average mutual information (AMI) proves that the proposed MWSMA scheme is much superior to the current orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) and two key NOMA schemes, multi-user shared access (MUSA) and sparse code multiple access (SCMA), especially for high spectral efficiency (SE). Simulation results also verify that MWSMA can achieve significant 0.8dB, 0.8dB and 3.9dB signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR) gain at target block error rate (BLER) 10−1 as compared with MUSA, SCMA and OFDMA, respectively.","PeriodicalId":170216,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131593206","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, great challenges still exist when it comes to resource allocation and urban planning. While there are lots of works on sensing urban spatial hotspots and exploring their properties, little attention has been given to users’ interactions with them from an inter-connected way. Users’ visits on places always reveal the places’ ability of grouping people together. We call it users and places are inter-connected. Benefiting from the development of information technology, we have observed a dramatic increase of the mobile big data. How to convert the data into actionable insights are some of the biggest impediments to unlock its value. Fully mining the mobile big dataset collected from one northern city in China, we first present a density-based method to recognize hotspots in a city, which are usually significant places with specific functions. Then a user-location inter-connected network is constructed based on the detected spatial hotspots. Different properties are shown in different places. Our analysis sheds light on the relationship between the prosperity of people and places, distinguishing various urban functions. Besides, it will benefit the next generation of location-based services and applications.","PeriodicalId":170216,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130860761","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A 16-element dual-polarized cylindrical antenna array is used in the measurements. Then the Space-Alternating Generalized Expectation-maximization (SAGE) algorithm is applied to extract the multipath components (MPC) and the clustering and tracking algorithms are used to identify and track the MPC clusters. Based on the clustering results, this paper presents a cluster-based three-dimensional V2V channel model. In the model, we divide the MPC clusters into two categories: Global-Cluster and Scatterer-Cluster, in which Global-Cluster are brought by line-of-sight (LOS) propagation or ground reflection, and Scatterer-Cluster are brought by scatterers such as vehicles and buildings. The Global-Cluster is described by a series of global-cluster parameters, then several inter-cluster and intra-cluster parameters are used to describe the Scatterer-Cluster. The proposed model is useful for characterizing the three-dimensional V2V channels.","PeriodicalId":170216,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130941163","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two optimization-based novel waveform designs are proposed. The aim of the first waveform design is to minimize the downlink multi-user interference (MUI) energy by exploiting the remaining degrees of freedom (DoFs) while always guaranteeing the radar performance to be optimal. The second waveform design is a trade-off optimization between radar and communication performances by allowing a tolerable mismatch between the designed and the desired radar beampatterns. Albeit non-convexity of both problems, efficient algorithms are devised to obtain globally optimal solutions, which can be used for simultaneous target detection and downlink communications. Numerical results show that the communication performance could be significantly improved by tolerating a slight radar performance loss and therefore a favorable balance between communication and radar performances is achievable.","PeriodicalId":170216,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127836295","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
