WLANs are widely used in both home and office networking. Due to the ability of providing high data rate access, WLANs are significant components of next generation wireless networks. Next generation wireless networks must provide a reliable communication and high data rate under various scenarios. A way of solving these tasks is the application of adaptive methods where system characteristics change according to channel conditions. A reliable model of WLAN operation is required for design and analysis of adaptive rate adaptation methods. In this work, we created a simulation model that is used for analyzing WLAN throughputs under different scenarios. It can be also applied to analyze other important performance metrics such as the delay and probability of collisions.","PeriodicalId":169672,"journal":{"name":"14th Conference of Open Innovation Association FRUCT","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129385385","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ridesharing is a shared use of a car by the driver and one or more passengers for a joint trip. The service is based on the smart space concept. For this purpose the Smart-M3 platform is used. Currently the Smart-M3 platform doesn't have an appropriate access control mechanism meeting the following requirements: supporting a flexible, descriptive and well-defined policy language and taking into consideration the context information. Therefore, the usage of the context-based access control model has been proposed. This model is built as a combination of the role-based and attribute-based access control models. It uses roles, which are assigned dynamically based on the user's context, and meets the requirements to the access control in the smart space. An analysis of information transfer through the ridesharing service modules is used for defining the user's context. The model has been implemented within an access control broker, which controls the access to the smart space resources.","PeriodicalId":169672,"journal":{"name":"14th Conference of Open Innovation Association FRUCT","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124572220","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is problematic for several reasons and means that many innovations are piloted and performance evaluated, but relatively few pass into mainstream adoption. The current relationship between healthcare commissioners and technology developers is adversarial rather than collaborative. Evaluations and regulatory systems place the responsibility with the developer to prove that the solution works - in other words, to refute the assumption that the solution may not be appropriate. Furthermore, with telemedicine innovations the `user' and the `customer' is not a single individual or organisation - the healthcare professional, the patient (and perhaps carer, family or friends), as well as the organisation itself are all involved. A conventional evaluation ignores the organisationally disruptive aspect of the technology. A better question than `does it work?' would be `how can we use it?' This paper reviews barriers to adoption and considers the particular issues that developers of telemedicine apps need to address. We propose the Stakeholder Empowered Adoption (SEA) Model, as a process that builds stakeholder (staff and patients, managers, technologists) perspectives into the specification and early design stages and uses scenario modelling and simulations to avoid dependence on actual prototypes. The model recognises that the main economic stakeholders (the health organisation commissioning the innovation and the technology provider) need to drive the process, but end users (professionals and patients) are critical t","PeriodicalId":169672,"journal":{"name":"14th Conference of Open Innovation Association FRUCT","volume":"280 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122126330","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The agents created with the use of the framework support the substitution mechanism that allows to keep the dataflow network based systems in working conditions when some of its agents fall out. The RoDaFlow framework is implemented in Java with the use of Smart-M3 Java KPI library. It allows to develop primary and substitute agents by implementing only their programs, which define how agents process incoming information. The paper also describes a prototype of home light control system based on the dataflow network that allows to effectively control the light in a home. This system uses a number of sensors, actuators, remote control units and computational agents. The agents use information from remote control units and sensors to control the actuators and thus the light level in the home rooms. The agents for the prototype were developed with the use of proposed framework.","PeriodicalId":169672,"journal":{"name":"14th Conference of Open Innovation Association FRUCT","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122213653","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, very specific cases, like machine-to-machine communications, heterogeneous networking and device-to-device communications are considered. These scenarios have some specific traffic patterns, on one hand, and a number of supplementary requirements for network performance characteristics, on the other. Due to such a gap, there is a strong need for adapting well-known evaluation techniques with respect to listed priority changes, which gives motivation for our work. The paper presents commonly-used set of three evaluation strategies: analytical approach, simulation and measuring. For each of those a classification of know techniques is presented, as well as their applicability assessment for named developing applications. Possibility of combining techniques from different strategies to decrease the level of uncertainty is also discussed. Finally, some useful pieces of advice related to emerging applications performance prediction are given.","PeriodicalId":169672,"journal":{"name":"14th Conference of Open Innovation Association FRUCT","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131764641","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
