Here we aim at using numerical climate models to better constrain the causes and magnitude of the climatic changes that occurred at that time. Through this example, we will illustrate the capacity of climate modeling to shed new light on climate in deep-time periods. francaisL'Ordovicien superieur, entre 458 et 444 millions d'annees avant l'actuel, est caracterise par la concomitance de l'apparition de grands glaciers continentaux plus etendus que l'Antarctique et de la deuxieme plus grande extinction de masse qu'a connu la vie sur Terre. L'objectif est ici d'utiliser des modeles numeriques de climat pour mieux comprendre les causes et modalites des changements climatiques qui ont eu lieu a cette epoque.
