More and more ontologies have been published on the Web, with different scope and quality. Ontology evaluation has been proposed as one strategy for quality assurance of ontologies. In this paper, we propose a democratic ranking system analogous to that used by Amazon.com and eBay, with an innovation that we separate the reviewers into deferent groups of domain experts, ontology researchers, and common users. By using the server side Java technologies and Ajax technology, we developed a prototype system which can evaluate ontologies uploaded by users in both an objective and a subjective way.","PeriodicalId":169222,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Advanced Language Processing and Web Information Technology","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121808507","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Bui","doi":"10.1109/ALPIT.2008.58","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/ALPIT.2008.58","url":null,"abstract":"Vietnamese alphabet is based on the Latin alphabet with the addition of nine accent marks or diacritics - four of them to create additional sounds, and the other five to indicate the tone of each word. Because Vietnamese is a tonal language that uses tone to distinguish words, recognizing diacritics is an important part in recognizing Vietnamese word. However, in written form, diacritics are much smaller then the characters, which make very them hard to recognize. Previous works on Vietnamese characters recognition often pre-process input with a graph-based approach by trying to separate the main characters with their diacritics by determining connected regions at pixel level. This approach, however, only works well where the input contains only characters with separable diacritics, for example, scanned image of printed documents. We propose in this paper a robust method to recognize online Vietnamese characters with diacritics. Using cosine transformation with appropriated sampling algorithms, we represent multiple strokes of a character together in a single set of features. This set of features is then used as the input for a well designed machine learning based system. We have tested our system on the combination of Vietnamese characters with diacritics and Section 1c (isolated characters) of the Unipen data set, and have obtained very competitive results.","PeriodicalId":169222,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Advanced Language Processing and Web Information Technology","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124550862","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sentence similarity measure is certainly one of the most significant problems addressed in EBMT. For EBMT from Chinese to English, the performance of similarity measure of Chinese sentences greatly affects the final translation result of an input Chinese sentence. In this paper, we present an approach to Chinese sentence similarity measure (CSSM) together with word sequence and sentence structure information. The new method in our experiments yields a good efficiency and effectiveness without conducting a complex and deep syntactic analysis of Chinese sentences, which can be applied to an EBMT system for CSSM for a better performance in Chinese-to-English translation.","PeriodicalId":169222,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Advanced Language Processing and Web Information Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121412857","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While performing data dissemination under a battery power constraint, energy efficiency is a key design factor of routing protocol because deployed nodes cannot be replaced or recharged after deployment and a dead node may lead to the partition of whole networks. As a solution for the efficient data dissemination, in this paper, we propose a protocol namely Hierarchical Data Dissemination (HDD) which provides scalable and efficient data delivery to multiple sources and mobile sinks. HDD uses the facts that sink nodes are central gathering points and data forwarding paths are constructed and maintained hierarchically.","PeriodicalId":169222,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Advanced Language Processing and Web Information Technology","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115844985","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a lot of sentimental questions have been gathered from zhidao.baidu.com and five kinds of sentimental question types have been summarized according to the characteristics of the questions. Since sentimental questions are different from fact-based questions, the question classification method only based on the interrogative words is not fit for sentimental questions. So the method of the chunk-based CRF model combined with rules and semantic sentimental resources in sentimental question classification is used in this paper. In answer extraction step, answers are obtained by different methods based on various question types combined with the identification of the chunks and the sentimental polarities of the sentences.","PeriodicalId":169222,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Advanced Language Processing and Web Information Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130206836","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research also offers the classifications of basic stokes, compound stokes, algorithms of automatic stoke extraction and structural relation computation based on stroke-segments-mesh depiction of glyphs. It uses the dynamic programming method to prevent candidates from combinational explosion, and provides a global solution for pattern extraction instead of sub-pattern redundancy.
