Applying reinforcement learning (RL) to the design of argumentation policies is appealing to dialogues where the counterpart can be modelled as a probability distribution. The idea of this research is to apply RL to speech acts in order to learn which discourse pattern is best to be conveyed during an argumentation game. However, their greatest limitation remains energy. The lifetime of the sensor network depends on the amount of energy consumption that reflects the amount of data processing done locally in the sensor network. Limited energy resource to the sensor becomes an obstacle for its applications. Research efforts have been focused on energy saving techniques. This paper proposes a technique that determines the redundancy of the nodes and manages to maintain the degree of coverage with the minimum of sensors that are active. The algorithm gains its effectiveness by choosing in each moment the optimal sensor that offers the best coverage. This paper presents an evaluation of multi-objective decentralized scheduling models for the problem of task allocation. It also presents a survey of existing optimization solutions for grid scheduling. The surveyed scheduling solutions are: random and best of n random, exhaustive search, simulated annealing, game theory, ad-hoc greedy scheduler, and genetic algorithm for decentralized scheduling. We carry out our experiments with various scheduling scenarios and with heterogeneous input tasks and computation resources. We also present the methods to evaluate and validate the described scheduling methods. Computed tomography (CT) are images with low contrast and with heavy noise. To handle these types of images for the purpose of kidney tumor delineation, we propose a new automatic segmentation method using a multi-feature EM algorithm, based on texture information. The approach consists of two steps: finding an effective and discriminative set of texture features using Gabor filters and the EM based image segmentation. Many of these can be prevented. Therefore a driver assistance system must include a collision detection component that is capable of generating warnings to prevent an imminent impact and to advise the driver in the traffic scenarios. This paper presents a forward collision warning approach based on a 3D Elevation Map provided by a Dense Stereo Vision System. We detect the obstacle delimiters and taking into account the car parameters evaluate the car trajectory and associate to it a driving tunnel. A warning is generated when the obstacle delimiters intersect the current driving tunnel at an unsafe distance. Since falling causes dramatic physical-psychological consequences, development of intelligent video surveillance systems is so important due to providing safe environments. To this end, this paper proposes a novel approach for human fall detection based on combination of integrated time motion images and eigenspace technique. Integrated Time Motion Image (ITMI) is a type of spatio-temporal database that includes motion and time of motion occurrence. Applying eigenspace technique to ITMIs leads in extracting eigen-motion and finally multi-class Support Vector Machine is used for precise classification of motions and determination of a fall event. Unlike existent fall detection systems that only deal with limited movement patterns, we considered wide range of motions consisting of normal daily life activities, abnormal behaviors and also unusual events. The performances of the detection algorithm were tested using a simulated visual servoing architecture. The protocol uses routing information to establish a schedule appropriate for periodical data gathering, which is the main traffic type in sensor networks. The schedule is determined by examining patterns that arise from data being sent in an incipient CSMA/CA, RTS/CTS phase. No extra control packets are needed, as is the case with existing TDMA solutions, so the power consumption is reduced. The problem domain here is huge and might be divided into the subtopics, like driverpsilas fatigue detection, pedestrian tracking, obstacle collision avoidance, lane departure warnings and traffic signs detection and recognition. Advanced computer vision techniques are widely used in order to develop sufficient and robust systems for driving assistance. In this paper we discuss the video-based Hough-Transform driven objects detection algorithms and their applications for lane departure warnings, as well as for traffic signs detection. We state that the covariance matrix of 2DPCA is equivalent to the average of the main diagonal of the covariance matrix of PCA. This implies that 2DPCA eliminates some covariance information that can be useful for recognition. E2DPCA instead of just using the main diagonal considers a radius of r diagonals around it and expands the averaging so as to include the covariance information within those diagonals. The parameter r unifies PCA and 2DPCA. r = 1 produces the covariance of 2DPCA, r = n that of PCA. Hence, by controlling r it is possible to control the trade-offs between recognition accuracy and energy compression (fewer coefficients), and between training and recognition complexity.
