The films were characterized by the studying their phase, structure, and morphology using ex-situ measurements of X-ray diffractometry (XRD), Raman Spectroscopy, Atomic force micrometry (AFM). Electrochemical performance evaluation indicated that the as grown LiCoO2 films The anodic electrochemical performances of the films have been evaluated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) at a scan rate of 0.5 mV/s and by galvanostatic cycling, with lithium metal as the counter and the reference electrode, and cycled in the range of 3.0 - 4.2 V at a current density of 50 μA/cm2. The films show a discharge capacity at the 20th cycle of 58 μAh cm−2μm− Keywords: LiCoO which exhibited excellent capacity retention with a small capacity fade which exhibited excellent capacity retention with a small capacity fade.","PeriodicalId":16850,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics","volume":"17 3 1","pages":"779-780"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91212222","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The transition between the two phases, being weakly first order, exhibits pretransitional effects signifying the appearance of the nematic-like regions in the isotropic phase. Unlike a typical polar liquid, the liquid phase of the strongly polar component of the binary mixture exhibits a convex shaped anomaly in its dielectric constant on approaching the nematic phase. We comment on the effect of the weakly polar component on the magnitude of this anomaly, as well as the nonlinear variation of the dielectric anisotropy.","PeriodicalId":16850,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics","volume":"21 1","pages":"77-78"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79323532","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Understanding the mechanism of motility, including force and torque generation and the resultant displacements, holds keys to numerous applications in medicine and biosensing. In this work, a simple back-of-the-envelope calculation is presented to illustrate that a biomechanical model of actin-based motility of a rigid surface through persistently attached filaments propelled by affinity-modulated molecular motors can produce a right-handed helical trajectory consistent with experimental observations. The implications of the mechanism to bacterial motility are discussed.","PeriodicalId":16850,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics","volume":"1 1","pages":"165-166"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89930922","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The average diameters of as grown ZnO nanorods and nanowires as seen from the field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) are ∼575 nm and ∼40 nm, respectively. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) results provide the conclusive evidence of the ZnO nanostructures. UV-VIS spectra of ZnO nanowires show the absorbance edge of pure ZnO is 337 nm and the band gap was determined by the linear exploration of the steep part of absorbance curve towards base line i.e. 3.72 eV which may be due to quantum confinement.","PeriodicalId":16850,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics","volume":"17 1","pages":"297-298"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75136190","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The XRD, FTIR, SEM and DSC were used to confirm the structural, chemical, morphology and thermal studies of doped PEO. The ionic conductivity measurement was done at different temperatures. The polymer electrolyte observed a maximum ionic conductivity of the order of 2.5×10−7 Sm/cm at 303K. The obtained results suggest that, these polymer systems are suitable candidates for solid state battery, optoelectronics display & electro chromic devices etc.","PeriodicalId":16850,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics","volume":"28 1","pages":"965-966"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74847307","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
