This is very significance in the industrial world. Direct Reduction plant is an iron making process plant for the new era which utilizes natural gas to reduce iron ore to produce Direct Reduced Iron used in steel industry. An alternator is an electrical generator that converts mechanical energy into AC electrical energy. Synchronization is connection of an alternator into the grid in parallel with many other alternators that is live of constant voltage and frequency. Transient stability is one of the major factors for proper operation of the Direct Reduction plant production systems that lead to major system collapses. The stress on Direct Reduction plant machines systems is increasing day by day, due to faults, economic and environmental pressures, sudden load change, deviation of active power and frequency. This phenomenon constitutes negative threat to Direct Reduction plant stability. The study was carried out to examine the capacity and transient stability on the Direct Reduction plant machines to withstand disturbance while quality of service is maintained. The effect of improper phase condition upon the synchronizing process, phase sequence of three phase power line, direct current excitation effect upon the power deliver by alternator, power delivered by an alternator upon the torque delivered by the prime mover. The challenges were solved and analyzed using individual machine with the help of accurate step by step integration and Electrical Transient Analyzer Program MatLab software. Swing equation was solved using advanced Runge-Kutta’s method. An experiment was conducted in Electrical Engineering laboratory and machines transient stability of the plant was improved by 64 percent averagely. The results were depicted graphically for machines dynamic behavior studies and recommended for Technician and Engineers in steel and related industries","PeriodicalId":167829,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Studies","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126331372","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Talai","doi":"10.37745/ijeees.13/vol9n166124","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.37745/ijeees.13/vol9n166124","url":null,"abstract":"Researchers' attention has recently been on the best ways to integrate Distributed Generation (DG) into the conventional centralized electrical power distribution systems, particularly in the context of the smart grid idea due to its reputation as a viable remedy for the lack of electric power supply. To optimize the environmental, financial, and technological advantages of DG units’ integration for distribution network operators, it is crucial to determine their ideal position and size. The main objective of this study was to develop and simulate an optimization system for the placement and sizing of distributed generation units in electrical power distribution networks for power losses reduction and voltage profile improvement. The specific objectives were to model and develop the load flow algorithm and codes; develop a meta-heuristic optimization algorithm and codes that selects the best location and size of the DG unit; simulate the nested load flow and optimization algorithms and codes on MATLAB and analyze the effectiveness of the developed algorithm via testing on the standard IEEE 33-bus radial electrical power distribution benchmark network. The Backward-Forward Sweep (BFS) technique was employed in the load flow modelling owing to its maximization of the radial structure of distribution systems. The optimization algorithm was developed based on the Multi-objective Particle swamp optimization (PSO) meta-heuristic technique due to its effective global searching characteristic. The line and load data for the IEEE 33-bus test network being a cutting-edge benchmark for contemporary power distribution networks; were obtained from the Power Systems Test Case Archive- a secondary data source. For this network fed by a synchronous generator, the chosen base MVA (Mega Volt Amp) was 10MVA and the base voltage was 12.66kV. The total active and reactive power demand were 3.715MW and 2.3Mvar respectively. The simulation was done on R2021a version of MATLAB/Simulink. The total real and reactive power losses obtained from base case simulation without the placement of any DG unit in the network were obtained as 201.8925kW and 134.6413kvar respectively while the per unit (p.u) average bus voltage was 0.948594 p.u. After the optimal allocation of one, two, three and four DG units, the total real power loss (in kW) in the network reduced by 140.89, 173.89, 189.89 and 195.89 respectively while the total reactive power loss (in kvar) reduced by 86.64, 114.64, 124,64 and 128.64 respectively. Likewise, the per unit average bus voltage improved by 0.0376p. u, 0.0458p.u, 0.0480p.u and 0.0498p.u respectively. Also, the decrease in the total real and reactive power losses and the improvement in bus voltage profiles varies proportionally with the number of DG units optimally placed. In conclusion, the results shows that the total real power loss and the total reactive power loss of the network, were significantly decreased; and the voltage profile of the system wa","PeriodicalId":167829,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Studies","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124348411","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to rising population and lack of adequate power supply to satisfy energy consumers, there is an urgent need to provide an efficient way to manage energy. This study proffers solution to the enormous challenge of managing energy by developing a model that helps both consumer and energy providers manage energy efficiently. This solution will enable monitoring of power over a specific period and intelligent switching of power sources. Thus, the energy consumer gets a detailed information of energy usage and specific time and duration of power switching between different energy sources. It assists energy providers such as the Electricity DISCOs (Distribution Companies) to monitor energy distribution. The study composes four distinct parts which are; the automatic transfer switch, the internet of things module, the mobile application and the cloud server. This study helps to intelligently chose between energy sources, observe and log power usage patterns of homes, provide analytics and insight to energy usage by consumers, provide ease, comfort and safety to users and optimally manage energy in homes.","PeriodicalId":167829,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Studies","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127457177","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
