The proposed twenty four-pulse ac-dc converter is realized on the principle of dc ripple re-injection technique for harmonic mitigation. The design of the proposed autotransformer is developed along with the necessary modifications required for making it suitable for retrofit applications, where presently a 6-pulse diode bridge rectifier is used. The effect of load variation on VFIMD is also studied to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed ac-dc converter. The extensive tests are conducted on the developed prototype autotransformer based ac-dc converters. The PLL control scheme involves detecting phase difference between injected sinusoidal signal and demodulated terminal voltage of PT. Generally, frequency control method decreases the efficiency of PT in wide input range. And, duty cycle control method has a problem of insufficient operating range for the load variation. In other to overcome these problems, this paper introduces a two loop control (PWM and PLL) with PT which provides wide ZVS condition nearly independent of the load variation, and excellent line regulation for the universal input voltage and load range. The goal is to take full advantage of the installed harmonic and reactive compensation capability to optimize the operation at the point of common coupling, even in presence of non-sinusoidal voltage supply and distorting loads. The cooperative operation is based on the conservation of instantaneous complex power, a quantity which envelopes power and energy information of the related electrical network. The proposed voltage regulator only employs four switches to perform the power factor correction in input side and provide regulation of the output ac voltage magnitude. Thus, its cost is lower than the others. It has a common arm between the rectifier and inverter, and adopts an appropriate switching strategy. A significant reduction in the conduction losses is achieved, since the rectifier in the proposed converter uses a single converter instead of the conventional configuration composed of a four-diode front- end rectifier followed by a boost converter. An average- current-mode control is employed in the rectifier side of proposed converter to synthesize a suitable low harmonics sinusoidal waveform for the input current. The sinusoidal pulse-width modulation (SPWM) control strategy is employed in the inverter of proposed converter to achieve well dynamic regulation. The analysis is carried out to determine the conditions that should be met in order for the piecewise linear control surface approximation to be validated. An equivalent two-input Pi-Fuzzy with conventional fuzzification, inference and deffuzification process is built for verification purpose and both controllers are then applied to a single phase inverter system. The dynamic response of both controllers are examined and compared. Number of methods for maximum power point tracking (MPPT) has been reported in the literature. The power circuit uses the insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) as switching device in the SPMC implementation. Safe-commutation strategy was incorporated to solve switching transients. Direct portability of this control to machines with any number of phases is achieved by the developed multiphase-torque-sharing concept. This concept is also necessary for SRMs where maximum torque can only be achieved by phase overlap of more than two phases. Furthermore, a new torque-sharing strategy for predictive PWM-DITC is presented that minimizes losses in the machine without use of pre-computed current or torque profiles. A single DC-DC Converter is designed for both of motoring and generating modes of the DC motor load condition. Charging and discharging operating modes of NI-MH are focused. Air-cored axial flux permanent magnet (AFPM) generators, although excellently suited for small wind energy systems, can not be used in direct battery charging systems as optimum turbine power matching is not obtained and non-sinusoidal currents are drawn due to the rectifier; with non-sinusoidal currents these generators are shown to become extremely noisy.
