Subject to an average transmit power constraint, we study the capacity of an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel with Rayleigh fading. Under an independently identically distributed fading assumption, lower and upper bounds of the channel capacity are given and proved and they are compared to the capacity results numerically computed. Besides, an approximation result of such channel capacity is proposed, and by conducting numerical comparison it is shown that our suggested approximation result has a better performance in approximating Rayleigh fading channels capacity than the bounds given above. In addition, the channel capacity with outage probability is discussed and compared with different outage probabilities.","PeriodicalId":166700,"journal":{"name":"3rd Annual Communication Networks and Services Research Conference (CNSR'05)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123851811","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In some applications of large scale ad hoc network, the grouping of different sets of nodes is extremely helpful in achieving efficient and scalable routing. The study focuses on how the size of each zone (cluster) can be determined such that it promotes efficient and optimum routing protocol for any function index. The added value of current research makes the cluster-based approach more universal and applicable both, at the physical layer and network layer. The study's implementation is based on minimum cost flow and uses the available optimized package developed in Fortran by Bertsekas (Dimitri, P et al., 1988) and later implemented in C by Frangioni and Gentile from the University of Pisa, Italy.","PeriodicalId":166700,"journal":{"name":"3rd Annual Communication Networks and Services Research Conference (CNSR'05)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122571686","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When the two frequencies are far apart, a dual frequency patch structure can be conceived to avoid the use of separate antennas. In this paper the multiport analysis is coupled with an intelligent fuzzy method, to design dual-band microstrip antennas with shorting strips. An efficient CAD tool is proposed to design this type of antennas. Simulation results are compared to the results obtained by the FEM-based software, HFSS and the experimental results are also included.","PeriodicalId":166700,"journal":{"name":"3rd Annual Communication Networks and Services Research Conference (CNSR'05)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128122452","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
