This chapter demonstrates some practices adopted in the process of training the future engineer in a university center in the interior of the state of São Paulo through the use of the CDIO initiative. Social media can be an important “vehicle” to facilitate better and faster change management, whereas data mining can provide some crucial insight about employee perception about change. The purpose of this chapter is to capture the reader's attention towards the relationship between change management and Industry 4.0 tools specifically: social media and data mining. For that purpose, three in-depth interviews with senior managers of a Turkish telecommunication and technology services provider were conducted. The results support the research questions partially but point out new variables (national culture and generation gap) to consider in the relationship between employee behaviors and social media usage as an internal communication tool. A brief introduction of the fourth industrial revolution and related technologies has been included. The different AM processes with significant contributions in the relevant industry sectors have been discussed along with suitable examples. Difference between the manufacturing capabilities of conventional and AM technologies has also been presented. Owing to its high degree of design freedom, AM helps to reduce the spare parts inventory cost, component assembly cost, and can replace the discontinued parts easily. A case study presenting these key distinctive features of AM, which make it an indispensable technology for I4.0, are also discussed. Furthermore, the barriers to the adoption of AM technology by manufacturers and possible remedial actions are also discussed in brief. In addition to the traditional feasibility analysis steps, for Industry 4.0 projects, scenario analysis and decision trees are implemented to feasibility analysis that enables us to identify the outcomes of several scenarios for the risky parameters. At the end of the chapter, proposed feasibility analysis procedure is applied to an Industry 4.0 project. Utilization of internet of the things on an automotive maintenance service system is selected as the case study. In this project, the proposed system for the automotive maintenance service sector is a web-based application, which warns driver and maintenance service provider at the same time before the failure happens and by this way enables drivers to have the maintenance before the failure occurs. In this regard, artificial intelligence and increased automation are expected to create new kinds of jobs in the coming years; however, a significant problem is predicted considering that these changes will invalidate a high number of job types exist today. Thus, the workforce will face a severe unemployment threat. As a result of all of this, radical changes in the work methods, along with means of seeking employment, are now considered. The qualities of the work and the workforce are being transformed along with the organization methods of the production. While on the other hand, it becomes evident that education also has to adapt to this transformation. Cross-platform services often require the development of complex software components for protocol translation, device discovery, and thing lifecycle management. As a result, these systems are too expensive and hard to develop. The W3C Consortium launched the Web of Things Working Group to develop the standards for open interoperability in the internet of things. This chapter presents the web of things specifications for systems architecture and communication protocols and how they can be applied in industrial domains, building the industrial web of things. What are the factors determining which quality tools and techniques are more applicable in specific circumstances related to quality performance in Industrial Revolution 4.0? To answer this question, authors employ a multiple case study and an in-depth literature review as the research design approach. Two key data collection methods (qualitative methods) are used: (1) Primary data from face-to-face interviews with Toyo Memory Technology and Intel Malaysia (2) Secondary data from previous studies. This review, coupled with the case study analysis, leads to the identification of the real implementation of quality tools and techniques in the industries. As a result of transformation processes, Industry 4.0 develops more productive and continuous systems, and companies have been searching for the right adaptation of this transformation. In order to succeed in this Industry 4.0 transition, decision-making regarding the selection of profitable technology projects is a key point for companies. The proposed model incorporates two important goals: profit maximization by selecting technology projects and the development of simulation-based optimization with a three-step stage-gate model for technology project portfolio management under conditions such as resources, costs, and the probabilities of completion of stages and success. Currently, industry 4.0 requires manufacturers to deliver highly customized products without compromising on quality at a reduced life cycle. The objective of this study was to find out a solution for the optimum operation of manufacturing firms. By applying resource-based view, dynamic capability, and effectuation theory, this study has proposed an integrated framework of the organizational network, entrepreneurial bricolage, strategic agility and business performance in the context of the industry 4.0. Moreover, the positive effect of the organizational networks on the strategic agility ultimately improves the business performance of manufacturers. Demand side management (DSM) and energy efficiency (EE) are the well-known solutions in the short term, and capacity addition is the long-term solution. However, both DSM and EE initiatives require significant investment and logistics if implemented in the traditional approach. The contemporary Industry 4.0 principles can be effectively applied to resolve several issues. This chapter proposes a novel enterprise information system (EIS) by treating the modern power systems as cyber physical system and to manage the processes of DSM and EE.
