He decides to see if Bay Pines might be interested in bringing patients to the park so they can walk with some of the wounded birds of prey. By this time, Patrick has moved to the Narrows, another nature park in Largo Florida. The hospital agrees, and soon they were sending patients to the Narrows to walk with screech owls, red tail hawks, and other birds of prey. The doctor finds a research grant that would allow Patrick to count bald eagles in the wild for three years. We meet Rigby, an injured barred owl that came to the Narrows from the Owl’s Nest. She fell out of her nest as a baby and could not survive in the wild. Rigby and a super volunteer, Ria, fell in love and this chapter details their relationship. They have an incredible bond and we see how the pair relate to each other. Kaleigh is getting her Ph.D. and becomes an expert in working with wounded birds including two vultures that she trains and cares for in her back yard.
