This was the result of the introduction of Western education in India, with English as the medium of instruction in the educational institutions. The advent of the British rule and introduction of liberal English education in India produced a revolutionary change due to which modern outlook and ideas were evolved. These modem ideas not only introduced new institutions in Indian society such as liberation, education, newspaper, social welfare mission etc. but also brought a fundamental change. This fundamental change brought a revolutionary transformation. The extent the individual or the group is affected depends on their levels of operations and interest within the society. From experience, it has been observed that the benefits or even the pleasure derived determine the commitment or sacrifice an individual may be willing to make for the advancement of his society. It is based on the background that some individuals devote their entire lives working very hard to ensure that majority of the people survive while others simple struggle to satisfy their personal aspirations within the system. It is on this realm that the writer is examined to ascertain the challenges he will be confronted with in his effort to champion the cause of the people in an evolving democracy in Nigeria. The goal is to assist the writer in the realization of this fundamental role in advancing democracy by ensuring that the people participate actively. The study adopts descriptive and observatory method in its methodology to examine the performances and festivals to ascertain how they impact positively on the economy. It is revealed that through the performances such as drama, dance, music, chants, songs, recitals, festival performances- masquerades and regattas create avenue for revenue generation that adds to the economy. Additionally, the sales made from the Nollywood video film productions both locally and internationally are major sources of income and foreign exchange for Nigeria.
