The plant parts such as stem, roots and leaves were dried, powdered and subjected to Soxhlet extraction with various solvents based on its polarity. Phytochemical screening of the methanolic and aqueous extract detected the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, phenolic compounds and tannins. The extracts were subject to antimicrobial assay (DPPH) against four micro-organisms, viz ., E . Coli, S. Sureus, A. Niger and C. Albicans. The methanolic extracts of leaves exhibited significant antibacterial activity with zones of inhibition of 19.5mm (500 µg/µl) against E. coli (Gentamicin as positive control, 18.5 mm). The aqueous extract of the stem-roots showed effective antifungal activity with zones of inhibition measuring 10.5mm (500 µg/µl) against A. niger (Amphotericin B as positive control, 10.0 mm). Hence, in the current study we aimed to determine the antifungal activity for leaf, stem and root extracts of Sida acuta . Ethanol (50%) was used successively for extraction of active principles from the dried powdered leaves, stem and root of Sida acuta . The antifungal screening was done with two plant pathogens viz. Fusarium oxysporum ATCC 26225 and Colletotrichum gloeosporioides ATCC 20358 as test microorganisms. In the agar-well diffusion assay highest zone of inhibition in diameters were recorded with leaf and stem ethanol extracts of S. acuta . Both microorganisms were markedly affected by all the three extracts under study. Today in high tech and swiftly word life style and food style become changed tremendously. Humans are trying to returned back to traditional medicines and therapy and prefer herbal medicines instead of allopathic treatment. In this paper new mirror medicinal plant has been brought into the light occurred nearby river bank of Yamuna, Agra. Previous studies on traditional medicine as scientific outputs having traditional claims of effectiveness which are helpful to manage various ailments. Many native medicinal plants listed in this article are significantly utilized by the local people.
