The adsorption properties of a metal ion adsorbent were evaluated, and banana fiber (BF)- g -(glycidyl methacrylate)(GMA)(BF-GMA) were synthesized. A Schiff base 2,2’-{iminobis[ethane-2,1-diylnitrilo(E)methylidine]}bisphenol was synthesized via a reaction of diethylenetriamine and 5-bromo-salicyialdehyde in methanol. A metal ion adsorbent (BF-GMA(Br)) was synthesized via a reaction of the Schiff base with BF-GMA. Over 90% of La 3+ , Gd 3+ , Tm 3+ , Pr 3+ , Tb 3+ , Yb 3+ , Nd 3+ , Dy 3+ , Lu 3+ , Sm 3+ , Ho 3+ , Eu 3+ , and Er 3+ were adsorbed in a pH range of 6.0–6.6 by the synthesized metal ion adsorbent. Almost 100% of In 3+ at a pH value of 3.0–4.0 and 95% of Ga 3+ at a pH value of 3.9 were absorbed, thereby showing the maximum adsorption percentage. Almost 15% and 25% of In 3+ was adsorbed at a pH value of 1.4–1.6 and 1.8, respectively. Adsorption of Ga 3+ was barely observed in the pH range of 1.4–1.8. These results show that banana fibers can be utilized as metal ion adsorbents.","PeriodicalId":16331,"journal":{"name":"Journal of ion exchange","volume":"9 1","pages":"57-62"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88969069","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The addition of Li as the guest caused change in color of 1 from yellow to colorless. This is owing to blue shift in intramolecular charge transfer (CT) absorption at around 400 nm, which is associated with the a 1:1 host-guest complex formation. The guest-induced color change of 1 was used for alkali and alkaline metal ion sensing. It was found that 1 detected Ca with highest sensitivity.","PeriodicalId":16331,"journal":{"name":"Journal of ion exchange","volume":"1 1","pages":"27-32"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72749078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, we developed a Cs adsorbent wherein ammonium 12-molybdophosphate (AMP) was loaded by radiation-induced graft polymerization on a ˆbrous trunk material and crosslinked to form a structure wherein the loaded AMP is stable. To optimize the synthesis of this Cs adsorbent, a 9G (G: dimethacrylate) polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate (PEGDM) was used as a crosslinking reagent and the adding volume was adjusted to 1 mol in a monomer solution to synthesize the Cs adsorbent with a 200 degree of grafting. Our evaluation of the adsorption performance of the Cs adsorbent indicates that it can be applied to a standard pH range for drinking water (from pH 5.8 to 8.6) and captures su‹cient Cs, even in a solution containing 1 mg/L of K, Ca, Mg, and Na ions, to yield a Cs concentration comparable to that of stream water.","PeriodicalId":16331,"journal":{"name":"Journal of ion exchange","volume":"33 1","pages":"9-14"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80087947","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
