Verbatim transcripts were analyzed according to Colaizzi’s phenomenological analysis.Results : As a result, 5 theme clusters were extracted about nurses’ experiences. The 5 theme clusters, “Adapting to unexpected adversity”, “Accepting unresonable and heavy work”, “Dulness and disconnection from the outside world”, “Changing in perception of new infectious diseases”, and “Pathetic isolated patients” emerged.Conclusion : The results of this study provided a deeper understanding of nurses struggling to care for COVID-19 severe patients. This study is expected to be useful in providing basic evidence for improving intensive care practices and for preparing policies in other infection disease situations.","PeriodicalId":16247,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Korean Critical Care Nursing","volume":"121 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89532722","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The data were collected using structured self-administered questionnaire from August 10 to August 31, 2021. Measurements included the critical thinking disposition questionnaire, nurses’s knowledge of high-alert medication questionnaire, the medication safety competency scale. Data were analyzed using hierarchical multiple regressions using SPSS/WIN 28.0.Results : In the multiple regression analysis, the medication safety competence has a statistically significant correlation with the working department, the critical thinking disposition, and medication error risk level of high-alert medication.Conclusion : Based on the results of this study, it is suggested to develop and apply an educational strategy that can strengthen the knowledge and skills of critical thinking disposition and medication error risk level of high-alert medication to improve the ICU nurse’s medication safety competency.","PeriodicalId":16247,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Korean Critical Care Nursing","volume":"189 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82110527","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data analysis, including descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s correlations, and multiple regression analysis, were performed using SPSS 26.0 program.Results : Factors influencing organizational commitment included resilience (β=0.31, p<.001), position (β=0.31, p<.001), COVID-19 related stress (β=-0.26, p<.001), and COVID-19 nursing period (β=-0.19, p=.012). These variables explained 29.6% of the organizational commitment.Conclusion : In order to enhance the organizational commitment of nurses in infectious disease hospitals of COVID-19, active program development and intervention are required at the organizational level to improve nurses’ resilience and relieve stress related to nursing infectious disease patients.","PeriodicalId":16247,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Korean Critical Care Nursing","volume":"207 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86844698","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, one-way ANOVAs, Pearson correlations, and multiple linear regressions using the SPSS/WIN version 23.0.Results : The PTG was found to be significantly associated with deliberate rumination (r=0.36, p<.001), self-disclosure (r=0.39, p<.001), and social support (r=0.54, p<.001). Factors that affect PTG significantly were found in the order of social support (β=0.40, p<.001), self-disclosure (β=0.25, p<.001), and deliberate rumination (β=0.24, p<.001). The final regression model explained 40.1% of the variance of PTG (F=26.33, p<.001).Conclusion : The influencing factors identified in this study on PTG, including social support, self-disclosure, and deliberate rumination should be included in programs to promote PTG for ICU nurses who may experience traumatic events repeatedly.","PeriodicalId":16247,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Korean Critical Care Nursing","volume":"141 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76736613","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
