The use of Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technique along with the efficient charge control of the battery helps attaining a maximum output. A digitally controlled DC-DC Buck-boost converter was implemented and connected to Solar PV Array. State of Charge (SOC) of battery is continuously monitored to decide the charging rate of the battery at every instant. Moreover, the dynamic response and SOC are also evaluated using a user-friendly GUI interface which is capable of controlling the system and computing the SOC. An inverter connected to the battery produces an AC voltage which is stepped up to power the domestic load.","PeriodicalId":161503,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Embedded Systems (ICES)","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122025899","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

MPI (Message Passing Interface) framework is used in cluster computing for achieving security of the data transferred between clusters. The concept of MPI had never been tried for cloud cluster computing in terms of high performance, high availability and high throughput. In proposed work, it has a specific explanation with a modified yet enhanced MPI framework for Cloud Cluster communication with the validation of security in terms of authentication, confidentiality, portability, data integrity and availability had overcome on MPI for cloud with results are found out to be reasonable. Most of the accidents are caused due to various distractions to the driver. The systems proposed in this paper strive towards improving car safety by alerting the driver at all times, in case of any discrepancy. The proposed Driver Assistance System includes an Anti-Collision System, which continuously monitors the distance of the vehicle from the nearest obstacle ahead of it; an Accident Tracking System, which sends a message and location to the concerned authorities regarding an accident; an Automatic Dipping System, which dips the high beam of an approaching vehicle to reduce the glare on the driver's eyes; and a Tyre Pressure Sensing System, which alerts the driver in case the tyre pressure falls below a particular threshold value. The implementation of the proposed system has been done using easily available sensors and a general purpose microcontroller. The results obtained from the hardware prototype developed are presented and discussed.","PeriodicalId":161503,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Embedded Systems (ICES)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127841720","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Use of fertilizers like urea, for increasing the yield of agricultural production is prevalent amongst the farmers. Several studies show that farmers have little control over usage of optimum level of fertilizers for optimal crop yield. Also, usage of fertilizers more than the requisite level produces crops with increased fertilizer content which upon consumption leads to several harmful diseases. Thus most of the edible crops cultivated are under high-fertilizer content setting. In this paper we present a system which shows how an efficient embedded fertilizer monitoring system can ensure millions of farmers to have information about the precise amount of fertilizer to be used for a particular soil type. The system is built with a raspberry pi as a host processor that is used to control and manipulate the sensors and a web database server that is used to validate and store data.","PeriodicalId":161503,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Embedded Systems (ICES)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131270662","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unlike number system based approaches, it requires only simple table lookup operations thereby enabling efficient hardware implementation. A hardware model of the encryption is proposed and synthesized to an FPGA library. Quasigroup based encryption is less affected by brute force attacks compared to the conventional methods because the number of quasigroups increases as the order increases in an astronomical fashion. The architecture of the proposed design is synthesized and implemented in Altera Cyclone II FPGA kit. The robustness of the scheme is further improved by permutation in of the quasigroup in each step. The proposed hardware utilizes less memory as it does not need to store all the permuted quasigroups. The robustness of the implemented design is evaluated using the NIST-STS Test Suite.","PeriodicalId":161503,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Embedded Systems (ICES)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132954933","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Remote user authentication and mutual authentication among the communicating entities is the critical requirement in remote client-server architecture. Several remote user authentication schemes have been proposed using various combinations like the password (1 Factor Authentication), the smart card (2 Factor Authentication) and biometrics (3 Factor Authentication) by various researchers. Recently, in 2013, Khan et al proposed a biometric based (three factor) remote user authentication scheme and claimed that their scheme is secure against various cryptographic attacks. Unfortunately, in this paper we will show that their scheme is vulnerable to user impersonation attack and the adversary can get the password of a legal user etc.","PeriodicalId":161503,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Embedded Systems (ICES)","volume":"383 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123505132","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

LTE is able to deliver high data rate and low latency with reduced cost. It uses the frame structure as Time Division Duplexing (TDD) Land Frequency Division Duplexing (FDD). The broadcast channel in LTE is Physical Broadcast Channel (PBCH) information is divided into two categories one is Master Information Block (MIB) consists of a limited number of the most frequently transmitted parameters essential for initial access to the cell, and is carried on the PBCH and the other System Information Blocks (SIB) at the physical layer are multiplexed together with unicast data transmitted. The main objective of this paper is the realization of receiver architectures for PBCH in LTE considering Single Input Single Output (SISO), Multiple Input Single Output (MISO), Single Input Multi Output (SIMO), and Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO). The Receiver processing steps involves as channel de-estimation, demodulation, minimum mean square error (MMSE) and among the received data minimum value is calculated using the comparator at receiver side. By applying the following VLSI DSP methods folding to reduce the number of resource elements required and another method consider to reduce the delay is Super scalar processing method and the results are compared between the direct method, folding method and super scalar method. Based on simulation and implementation, results are discussed in terms of Register Transfer Level (RTL) design, Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) editor, power estimation and resource estimation. To simulate all the modules of all PBCH channel Verilog code, Modelsim is used. The wastage of time by waiting long time for getting bus can be avoided by Smart Public Transportation System. Here a methodology based on combination of GPS and GSM/GPRS modem is discussed to help the people who utilize the public transportation for traveling. The user is provided with the information about the current location of nearest buses approaching the stop. Based on this the user may change his schedule thus saving the long waiting hours at the bus stop. Also the system will definitely control the accidents due to over speed, by alerting the driver and passengers. Also the information is recorded for future reference whenever the vehicle over speeds. A next stop indicator is installed in the bus to facilitate the passengers. The most important sections of the system are: Bus module, Bus stop module and Base station or Server module. Also people can access the nearest bus information through SMS service by sending the bus stop id to the server. In case of loss of GPS, a digital speedometer is used to check for over speeding. The project will help to reduce the long waiting hours for buses at the bus stops and detect the over speed of the buses thereby reducing the road accidents.","PeriodicalId":161503,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Embedded Systems (ICES)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128290123","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
