Information has shown that ISB can be used to support education and learning for individuals with language delay. In general, visual and auditory artifacts are included in this kind of app which makes the app an incredible aid to facilitate speech and language skills. Considering the situation in Malaysia, many of the developed ISB suffers from a lack of practical experience with children, especially for the children who have language delay. The evidence can be seen from the lack of apps for the children whose first language is Bahasa Malaysia. Malaysian children with language delay and their parents are the subjects in this research. The children and their parents were asked to answer a survey about the ISB requirement. The survey focused on collecting the requirement for the ISB targeted for children with language delay. The survey data were analyzed to get the requirements for the app. Based on the requirements, the ISB can be developed using the Android platform. The main finding of the study is the practical requirements of ISB in Bahasa Malaysia for children with language delay in collaboration with Speech and Language Pathologists (SLPs), parents and children.","PeriodicalId":160138,"journal":{"name":"Asia-Pacific Journal of Information Technology and Multimedia","volume":"582 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114473467","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is due to the position of head and modifier which varies in sentences depending on the sentence structures. Hence, there are different point of views about the theory and concept of detection for the head and modifier in a compound noun that have been discussed by language experts. Additionally, the existing research is also limited especially in the areas of computational linguistics. Therefore, research should be conducted to identify appropriate methods especially used in the detection of head and modifier which appear in Malay setences from the cultural heritage domain. The aim of this study is to construct a list of heuristic rules to be used for detecting the position of compound nouns in Malay sentences from cultural heritage domain. By using 15 rules, the position of head and modifier that exist in a compound noun can also be detected. These rules are called heuristic rules. The purpose of formulating these 15 rules is to detect the head and modifier that exist in the Malay sentences from the cultural heritage domain. To measure the accuracy of the results, precision, recall and F1-score values are used. Based on the results of the experiments, Sentence Structure of Malay Cultural Heritage Domain (SADWBM) have an F1-score of 80.4% compared to Noun Phrase Structure (SFN) which is 56%. Consequently, SADWBM shows better scores compared to SFN. Therefore it is clear that the approach used in this study is effective in resolving the identified problems.","PeriodicalId":160138,"journal":{"name":"Asia-Pacific Journal of Information Technology and Multimedia","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129733205","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Waste is removed from the production process by eliminating activity that does not add value to the customer through a continuous improvement activities. This is the basis concept for TPS in order to produce products that meet customers’s demand and requirements which then indirectly reduce the cost of production. Lean production concept has been implemented in various types of organizations. However, a low success rate for the implementation of lean production has become the attention of practitioners and researchers in the industry. Among the issues that contribute to this situation are confusion about the definition of lean and lack of knowledge on how to implement lean, which caused misunderstanding. In addition, there are no strategic planning and lack of support from the top management. Thus, the objective of this study is to develop a definition of lean from Malaysian context. The study is expected to help organizations implementing lean concepts with success and thus increasing the organizational competitiveness .","PeriodicalId":160138,"journal":{"name":"Asia-Pacific Journal of Information Technology and Multimedia","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131204548","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These anomalies lead to difficult medical image segmentation. This study proposes a new active contour model (ACM) with fractional sinc function to inexpensively segment medical images with intensity inhomogeneity. The method integrates a nonlinear fractional sinc function in its curve evolution and edge enhancement. The fractional sinc function contributes in giving a rapid contour movement where it improves the curve’s bending capability. Furthermore, the fractional sinc function enables the contour evolution to move toward the object based on the preserved edges. This study uses the proposed method to segment medical images with intensity inhomogeneity using five various image modalities. With improved speed, the proposed method more accurately segments medical images compared with other baseline methods.","PeriodicalId":160138,"journal":{"name":"Asia-Pacific Journal of Information Technology and Multimedia","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124767938","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is reflected from a diverge range of practices and ways of life of its people. Nevertheless, the traditional cultural heritage has been gradually forgotten overtime. The information related to traditional cultural heritage can be obtained from various sources and locations but is inconsistent thus resulting in information seeking difficulties. A repository of cultural heritage was constructed to overcome the problem. The repository was built based on ontology which enable semantic knowledge representation and searching. The ontology consists of tangible objects that are listed as national heritage objects by the National Heritage Department (JWN). Additional information is also collected from various sources, including the National Library, the National Museum, the history books, articles and online references. Classes for each object was identified using middle-out approach. An information retrieval system prototype was constructed to test the effectiveness of information management and access. The evaluation of the prototype shows that the ontology has improved the information management and information searching of tangible heritage. This cultural heritage repository could be extended as a main hub of national cultural heritage management and access.","PeriodicalId":160138,"journal":{"name":"Asia-Pacific Journal of Information Technology and Multimedia","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122691510","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Knowledge about traditional crafts are often handed down secretly by the older generation to the interested descendants. Education in preserving the traditional crafts is seen able to transfer knowledge in cultural heritage in organized manner hence can avoid its extinction. Previous studies found that learning traditional craft skills is less appealing to young people as they perceived it to be unattractive and complex. Learning traditional craft skills requires students to heavily rely on detailed coaching and guidance from instructors. Thus, instructors have difficulty in teaching while at the same time having to monitor and assess students individually. Learning approach using information and communication technology such as courseware is effective in meeting students need and can support teacher's instruction. This study aims to develop a traditional craft web courseware for teaching songket using cognitive apprenticeship instructional strategy. The methods of the study are consisting of courseware development and evaluation methods which is through satisfaction evaluation on cognitive apprenticeship instructional strategy. Analysis of data in satisfaction evaluation is conducted after all data are collected. There are two types of data obtained from the study; quantitative and qualitative data. The outcome of the study is W-Songket courseware and results from satisfaction evaluation on applying cognitive apprenticeship teaching strategies received good feedback in terms of satisfaction level from students and instructors.","PeriodicalId":160138,"journal":{"name":"Asia-Pacific Journal of Information Technology and Multimedia","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130025383","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Previous studies show a virtual environment control and 360 °manipulation of artifacts is scarce beside the interface design does not comply with the basic principles of design. One of the efforts made by the museum institutions is to implement immersive technology to enhance the level of user interaction. However, immersive technology in a virtual environment in Malaysia is lagging behind compared to developed countries, because the technology is not cost effective. Therefore, non-immersive technology approach by implementing information visualization and virtual reality techniques as visual display interface is used in order to construct a model of user interaction design in virtual museum. This study uses user-centered design method by analyzing the user requirements involving visitors, curators, academics and students.
