There are two objectives of radio resource management, quality of service for individual users and resource utilization for the system. This paper proposes a mechanism to maximize system throughput while maintaining quality of service for users of wireless data applications. The mechanism uses token bank leaky bucket (TBLB) for QoS provisioning followed by carrier-to-interference (C/I) based radio resource management for optimum system performance. This paper investigates the resource optimization and scheduling of wireless networks through a time-scale decomposition approach. We decompose the dynamics of time-varying wireless channel conditions into random processes in two different time scales and deal with the two time scales by two different algorithms: the resource optimizer optimizes the sum of utilities in the slowly changing time scale, and the slot scheduler exploits the efficiency in the highly variable time scale. Our scheme can obtain high system utilization and provide a minimum service guarantee simultaneously. Bandpass sampling allows the digitization of bandpass signals at RF or intermediate frequencies without significantly increasing the sampling rate. This enables a more flexible receiver to be realized allowing for many radio functions to be defined in software. Sampling of signals at high carrier frequencies has associated problems such as the effects of aperture jitter. Jitter can limit the frequency at which digitization occurs and also degrade receiver performance. The study on GSC(M, L) receiver is also important from a theoretical standpoint because this model encapsulates both the classical selection diversity and maximal-ratio combining (coherent detection) or post-detection equal-gain combining (noncoherent detection) receiver structures as limiting cases. We first derive a concise analytical expression for the moment generating function (MGF) of the GSC(M, L) output signal-to-noise ratio with independent and identically distributed diversity paths over Rician fading channels (in terms of only a single finite range integral whose integrand is composed of tabulated functions). Previous studies have only treated either Rayleigh or Nakagami-m (1960) channel models using numerous ad-hoc approaches to simplify an M-dimensional nested integral that arise in the computation of the MGF. The novelty of our mathematical framework for computing the MGF relies on the fact that it allows us to treat all common multipath fading channel models (Rayleigh, Rician, Nakagami-m and Nakagami-q) in a unified sense, it leads to a much More elegant and computationally efficient expression than those available in the literature, and it holds for any combinations of M and L values. Using this newly derived MGFs, we provide a unified error probability analysis for many coherent and noncoherent digital modulation/detection schemes in a myriad of fading environments.","PeriodicalId":159750,"journal":{"name":"Vehicular Technology Conference. (2000). JT used in the downlink channel does not require a training sequence in the downlink in theory. Moreover, the mobile station (MS) does not demand channel estimation. However, JT requires a huge dynamic range and good linearity of the power amplifier of the transmitter because of the high peak to average ratio of transmitted signals of JT. In this paper, a new scheme called pre-distortion based joint transmission is proposed. Two pre-distortion approaches are also presented. One is based on the pre-clip technique, the other on a pre-nonlinear power amplifier. Finally, simulation results show that the pre-distortion based JT scheme has better BER performance and the BER performance of pre-distortion based JT under nonideal power amplifier is better than that of JT under ideal power amplifier. We first propose to divide a uncertainty region of Doppler spread into multiple frequency bins. Based on the given multiple bins the correlator compares the estimated value at a certain time index to the theoretical exact value and then decides which bin the Doppler spread is estimated in. The certain time index can be optimized to give the largest decision region among multiple bins. We derive the optimum time index algorithm to give the largest decision region for each bin based on Rayleigh fading channel. We also apply the same Doppler spread estimator to the Rician case with the slight transformation of the received signal. We show that the proposed technique is not affected significantly by the Rician factor and the SNR degradation with the reasonable number of samples for estimation which is not the case of other estimators given in the literature.","PeriodicalId":159750,"journal":{"name":"Vehicular Technology Conference. A novel wireless system, called distributed wireless communication system (DWCS), is proposed. Logically, it is divided into four layers. They are distributed antennas, a distributed fiber-optic transmission network, distributed processing network and a distributed core network. To support different radio access standards, the distributed processing network is realized with a software radio technique. Also, some new concepts, such virtual cell and virtual tunnel is proposed for DWCS. It is foreseen that the DWCS has three phases of development and how it conforms with the Internet is considered. Thus, the DWCS is a system that depends not only on wireless technologies, but also on Internet technologies. In the proposed MMSE combining scheme, the combining weight of each sub-carrier component is accurately estimated from the channel gain, noise power, and transmission power ratio of all the code-multiplexed channels to the desired one, by exploiting the time-multiplexed common pilot channel in addition. to the coded data channel.
