In fact, a large number of scholars have established the relationships between developing countries and restrictive abortion laws, restrictive abortion grounds and illegal abortion, illegal abortion and unsafe abortion, unsafe abortion and higher maternal morbidity and mortality. From that, it has been stressed that most of developing countries have restrictive abortion legislation, which fosters a large amount of illicit and unsafe abortions, responsible of such consequences as higher maternal morbidity and mortality. Since restrictive laws, instead of decreasing illegal abortion and its consequences, only increase them and make women run a great risk, it has been demonstrated that legalizing and granting access to safe abortion is the most effective prevention of criminal and unsafe abortions.

We divided the patients into two groups to see the change in the rate of opportunistic salpingectomy after a systemwide practice recommendation was issued. Group 1 consist of patients who were operated between 2010-2014, before recommendation of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology that favour salpingectomy and Group 2 consist of patients operated after that. \u0000Results: From January 2010 to January 2018, a total of 1224 vaginal hysterectomies were performed. A total of 808 patients under 60 years old were included in the study. There was no difference in operating time, the median estimated blood loss, intraoperative complication and postoperative complication by the performance of salpingectomy (P>0.05). When we examine the changes in the rate of salpingectomy year by year, from 2014, the salpingectomy rates increased, being 4 % in 2013, 7 % in 2015, and 8 % in 2017 onward. \u0000Conclusion: We report an increase in the rate of salpingectomy during vaginal hysterectomies from 3 % to 7.2 % after the recommendation of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology that favour salpingectomy but this increase is not as great as the increase during laparoscopic or abdominal hysterectomies.

A case report where an ectopic IUD located on sigmoid colon within peritoneal cavity in a 40-year-old multigravida was successfully removed by laparoscopy is described. Although the practicality and success of this method depends on the position and location of the ectopic IUD and on the extent to which the device is imbedded, this case suggests that removal of the migrated IUD from the peritoneal cavity is an additional possibility for use of the laparoscope.

Only patients whose diagnosis confirmed after pregnancy termination and have a genetic test were included in the study. The family and antenatal history of patients included maternal age, maternal education level, diabetes mellitus, exposed to teratogenic drugs, smoking, and folic acid intake before or during the first trimester, siblings with a congenital abnormality, consanguinity, and AFP MOMs (alpha-fetoprotein, multiple of median) was obtained. Also, the type and level of NTDs and additional anomalies were noted. The data were evaluated using version 23.0 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). \u0000Results: During the study period, a total of 68 patients who met the study criteria were included in the study. A total of 27 patients diagnosed with spina bifida, 24 patients with anencephaly and 17 patients with encephalocele. The most anomalies resulted from NTDs was hydrocephaly and pes equinovarus. The most detected chromosomal abnormality was trisomy 13 (3 out of 7), and the most additional anomaly was the cleft lip and palate and detected in 4 (5.88%) patients. Pregestational DM was seen in 12/68 of pregnancies with fetal NTD. \u0000Conclusions \u0000The rate of additional anomalies and chromosomal abnormalities in cases diagnosed with fetal NTDs is high. Thus, a detailed ultrasonographic examination and genetic tests of fetuses with NTD is essential. The pregnancies complicated with pregestational DM have an increased risk for fetal NTD.

Demographic characteristics, indications of hysterectomy, uterine weights, intra-operative and post-operative complications, duration of the operation, length of hospital stay, blood loss of patients, visual analogue scores and amount of analgesics needed were retrospectively evaluated. Complications were analysed and compared with literature. \u0000Results: Parameters analysed for 300 patients included in the study were as follows: mean age 47.82 ± 6.18 years, mean parity 3.4 ± 2.0 (0–11), BMI 27.41 ± 4.36 (kg/m²), mean uterine weight 367.67 ± 266.21 g (50–1600 g), mean operative time 89.07 ± 37.94 min (30–240 min), mean hospital stay 54.37 ± 21.95 h (24–168 h) and total complication rate 28 (9.3%). Conversion to open surgery was required in 29 (9.7%) patients. The level of technical difficulty and existence of prior abdominal surgery were associated with a higher risk of complications and conversions to laparotomy. \u0000Conclusion: Total laparoscopic hysterectomy is a well-designed surgical procedure for the management of benign gynaecological conditions, and after adequate training, it seems to be a safe and effective procedure for patients.

Current study, we aimed to describe the sonoelastographic features of normal myometrium and ovaries in healthy women and to define their variability during the different phases of the menstrual cycle using the SWE method.\u0000Material and methods: All cases were selected from individuals between the ages of 24-31, with regular menstrual cycles and no systemic disease. Each case was called in, 1-5th, 12-16th, 21-24th day of their menstrual cycles and was evaluated by B-mode imaging and SWE in pelvic ultrasonography. The relationship of menstrual phases with uterine and ovarian elasticity was investigated by comparing all measurements made in different menstrual phases.\u0000Results: No statistically significant difference was observed between the volume of right and left ovaries in terms (p> 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in terms of elastography measurements obtained from the uterus, right and left ovaries for each menstrual phase according to Bonferroni Correction (p> 0.0163).\u0000Conclusion: Although there was a slight decrease in myometrial SWE measurements in the follicular phase, there was no significant difference regarding the SWE measurements of uterus and ovaries in early follicular, peri-ovulatory, and luteal menstrual stages. A statistically significant difference was determined between pre-cerclage and post-cerclage cervical length. Whilst no difference was detected in pre-cerclage cervical length for deliveries at week 37, a significant difference was detected in post-cerclage length. \u0000Conclusıon: Increased miscarriages and second-trimester pregnancy losses seen in the first years of the war especially due to the use of chemical weapons and the stress suffered thereafter as well as the increased reproductive interest after the war bring together a greater desire for a healthy pregnancy and delivery. We believe that cervical-length measurement using transvaginal sonography during post-cerclage checks is important and that measurement of a cervical length equal to or above 30 mm may increase the probability of term delivery and decrease maternal, and most importantly, neonatal complications associated with preterm labor.
