Kakiuchi, Kazumasa Okamoto, Masaki Takeuchi, Hideji Tanaka","doi":"10.24688/jfia.36.2_97","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.24688/jfia.36.2_97","url":null,"abstract":"Throughput rate of flow ratiometric titration has further been enhanced by shortening the lag time from the confluence of solutions upstream to the sensing of signal downstream and by optimizing analytical parameters. Feedback-based upward and downward scans of titrand/titrant flow ratio were repeated in order to offset the effect of the lag time and thus to locate the equivalence point. Subsequent faster fixed triangular wave-controlled scans in narrower range further increased the throughput rate. Analytical parameters such as scan rate and scan range were optimized. Maximally, 46.9 titrations/min was realized with reasonable precision (RSD = 1.79%). The N-NO2- was optically detected by use of Griess method. Five pseudo-seawater samples containing 40 μg L-1 N-NO2- with 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4% sodium chloride (NaCl) were tested using two quantitative analysis approaches. In an absolute calibration method, approximately 30% of positive errors were found in the presence of NaCl. On the other hand, the errors fell within the range of −2.6 to +7.3% by introducing a standard addition method.
