This new digital landscape, combined with the ubiquitous online access potential of modern devices, provides novel capabilities to online users and allows them to express their opinions and attitudes about everything in almost real time. In this paper, we present an investigation on the use of social media for the continuous monitoring and mining of consumer behaviour. We analyse hundreds of thousands of microblogging messages containing comments, sentiments and opinions about food and brand products. We present initial results, which confirm previous studies about the potential of using social media monitoring for branding purposes. The results provide strong indications that given the use of such services by millions of users, they can play a key role in supporting and enhancing important business processes. Examples of such processes include company-to-customer relationship management, brand image building and Word-of-Mouth (WoM) branding.","PeriodicalId":155398,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Information and Communication Technologies for Sustainable Agri-production and Environment","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123854130","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A data base on 61,705 recordings of daily milk production obtained from an automatic milking system was used. The lactation models were individually adjusted for each lactation. Analysis of variance was performed for the comparison of the parameter estimates. The goodness of fit measures used for comparisons of the models was the coefficient of determination (R), mean of mean square error (MMSE), Akaike information criterion (AIC), corrected Akaike information criterion (AICc) and Bayesian information criterion (BIC). Wood model had the lowest values for information criteria (MMSE = 347.4681, AIC = 1,056.436, AICc = 1,056.733, BIC = 1,063.856) and the highest value for the coefficient of determination (R=0.79). The highest values for information criteria were found for Djikstra’s model (MMSE = 636.6438, AIC = 1,076.621, AICc = 1,077.117, BIC = 1,086.582) having the same time the lowest value for the coefficient of determination (R=0.59). Overall, Wood (1967) model showed the best adjustment. Despite of being more recent, the model by Djikstra (1997) mechanist based and with a higher number of parameters showed a low convergence for the data used. Wood model (1967) has a greater advantage of producing a good fit measurement with only three parameters.","PeriodicalId":155398,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Information and Communication Technologies for Sustainable Agri-production and Environment","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116597381","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

BEACON enables insurance companies to exploit the untapped market potential of AgI, while contributing to the redefinition of existing products and services. The Damage Assessment Calculator of BEACON employs remote sensing in order to improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of agri-insurance by: i) increasing the objectivity of the experts’ field inspections; ii) reducing the cost of field visits and iii) increasing farmers’ confidence in the estimation results. This paper provides an approach that employs a satellite derived agricultural drought indicator, implemented in the operational workflow of BEACON that can be used by AgI companies to improve the prediction and crop loss assessment due to drought.","PeriodicalId":155398,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Information and Communication Technologies for Sustainable Agri-production and Environment","volume":"116 7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116106323","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
