The proposed scheme is based on fourth order statistics estimation of received data followed by a Gauss linearization of a non-linear system. The channel estimation is performed over a very short number of symbols in order to stay compliant with the channel coherence time. The proposed approach is well suited to CP-OFDM system transmitting circular M-QAM communication symbols but, being not based on the cyclic prefix properties, it could be applied, with some adjustments, to filterbank multicarrier waveforms transmitting M-OQAM communication symbols. The blind algorithm presented provides finally an increase of the useful throughput and it gives a high flexibility for the waveform usage, avoiding the difficult time and frequency pilot location optimization problem.","PeriodicalId":154328,"journal":{"name":"2014 21st International Conference on Telecommunications (ICT)","volume":"64 15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133985236","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, they have a nonlinear transfer function, which could drastically affect the multicarrier modulations performances. The static characteristic is usually used to estimate the VCSEL nonlinearity impact on the Discrete MultiTone (DMT) modulation performances. In this paper, we demonstrate that the use of the static characteristic to model the VCSEL nonlinearity, overestimates the nonlinearity distortions when a large dynamic signal is modulating the VCSEL. In order to correctly estimate the VCSEL impact on the DMT modulation performances, we use the quasi-static characteristic to model the VCSEL nonlinearity. We show that the proposed modeling provides accurate estimations of the nonlinear distortions. The error vector magnitude (EVM) simulation results are very close to the measured EVM.","PeriodicalId":154328,"journal":{"name":"2014 21st International Conference on Telecommunications (ICT)","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133179305","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Bit-loading algorithm is introduced to maximize the total bit rate and permits a spectral coexistence between the two schemes. In addition, the optimal used bandwidth and multiband number are investigated in order to maintain strong robustness against fiber nonlinearity while achieving reduced peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). A composite DMT and two MPPSK channels over 50 m step-index (SI) polymer optical fiber (POF) link has been successfully implemented. The results demonstrate that a total bit rate of 1.122 Gbps with a bit error rate (BER) of 1.2019×10-4 and 2.01×10-3 for DMT and MPPSK are achieved respectively, and what's more, excellent coexistence performance is obtained in the composite transmission. It is a promising technique for future in-home networkings.","PeriodicalId":154328,"journal":{"name":"2014 21st International Conference on Telecommunications (ICT)","volume":"32 Suppl 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134519927","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While most of previous studies concentrate on downlink CoMP aspects, this paper deals with the coordinated scheduling in uplink CoMP. A scheduling metric based on nullspace projection and average throughput is created to support the proposed coordinated scheduling algorithm. The novel approach is compared with conventional coordinated scheduling strategies in terms of sum rate, fairness, and complexity. Extensive systemlevel simulation shows that the proposed scheme achieves a better tradeoff between system capacity and throughput fairness while reducing the performance-complexity significantly.","PeriodicalId":154328,"journal":{"name":"2014 21st International Conference on Telecommunications (ICT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130963537","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditionally, it's clear in the literature that Transmit Power Control (TPC) is chosen as one of the most powerful tools for optimizing MAC protocols. However, the TPC is not always possible to implement due to hardware and licensing limitations on one hand, and on the other, its unbalanced use results in starvation situations. In the same context, the Clear Channel Assessment (CCA) threshold adaptation is proving its effectiveness. This adaptation is preferable to TPC that behaves aggressively towards transmitters having lower transmit power. In this paper we show that CCA adaptation mechanism may be used effectively to optimize the spatial reuse in dense WLAN deployments. For a dense IEEE 802.11n network topology, our simulations show a global gain of 190% in aggregate throughput compared to the current bound assumed by the present MAC protocol.","PeriodicalId":154328,"journal":{"name":"2014 21st International Conference on Telecommunications (ICT)","volume":"183 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134152974","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The goal of eMBMS is to improve the coverage of high data rates and cell-edge throughput of broadcast services. In this paper we analyze this service that in spite of not being widely deployed has received increased importance due to the availability of new smart phones and tablet devices creating conditions to become eMBMS more attractive. The performance results indicate that the use of soft frequency reuse in single frequency network is essential for improving eMBMS throughput and coverage.","PeriodicalId":154328,"journal":{"name":"2014 21st International Conference on Telecommunications (ICT)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133684184","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In other words, the ability to define network resources (e.g. routing/switching elements, bandwidth, delay) is still very limited. However, the need to have more robust solutions is becoming clearer. In this paper we argue that, in a near future, cloud infrastructure services will evolve and allow the definition of complete infrastructures, which we refer to as Virtual Infrastructures (VI), which comprise not only computing resources but also network resources. This paper specifically addresses the VI embedding problem through joint virtualization of computing and network resources. In order to address this problem, an Integer Linear Programming (ILP) formulation with two embedding strategies is proposed. Finally, the performance of the different strategies is carefully evaluated.","PeriodicalId":154328,"journal":{"name":"2014 21st International Conference on Telecommunications (ICT)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133741206","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context, the Long Term Evolution (LTE) standard is adopted by a large number of mobile network operators. LTE uses Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) technique on the downlink of the radio interface along with frequency reuse-1 model. However, Inter-Cell Interference (ICI) and system power consumption will cause limitations in terms of mean user throughput and system performance. Indeed, several recent works focus on the minimization of ICI and power consumption in multi-user OFDMA networks. In this paper, we propose a distributed heuristic power control algorithm that aims at minimizing the total downlink power of an LTE system. We also study the impact of the power control algorithm on ICI and system performance. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm largely reduces the downlink power consumption without degrading system performance. In addition, it increases the mean throughput for cell-edge users that are mainly affected by ICI problems.","PeriodicalId":154328,"journal":{"name":"2014 21st International Conference on Telecommunications (ICT)","volume":"111 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134341923","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
