The system sum-rate performance will certainly degrade due to designing precoder with mismatch channel state information. Using tools from random matrix theory, some statistical characteristics of quantization error for CDI are obtained, and a precoder design scheme is proposed by minimizing the expected mean square error (MMSE). The proposed scheme is robust to the channel uncertainties caused by quantization error. Simulation shows the scheme effectively enhanced the system sum-rate and improved the system reliability.","PeriodicalId":154328,"journal":{"name":"2014 21st International Conference on Telecommunications (ICT)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131070221","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, estimating the coverage area may become complex in some cases without appropriate computing tools. In this work, we present the geometrical properties of the OTNs such as the convex area and establish their correlation with the circumferential ellipse (CE) of the networks. We provide the estimation and application of the CEs for the OTNs by evaluating the parameters of 40 real OTNs. We show that the average link length of the OTN can be estimated from the CE and thus several other link-related parameters as well. We estimated their eccentricities, and finally present their correlations with the OTN parameters. By comparing the results obtained from the estimations using CEs with the previous outcomes using the convex areas, we show that the methods based on the CEs are as effective as the methods based on the convex areas.","PeriodicalId":154328,"journal":{"name":"2014 21st International Conference on Telecommunications (ICT)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131186935","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To efficiently use limited radio resource, 3GPP introduces RRC state transition mechanism in UMTS. This mechanism uses a timer called TDCH to determine when mobile phone should release its connection to network. To examine the impact of such a timer on radio resource utilization and signaling load, which is seldom considered in previous literature, this paper proposes a system model to calculate RRC connection numbers, traffic channel utilization and control channel blockage rate of a cellular network based on different network configurations and traffic models. Moreover, an optimization goal is formulated to describe the trade-off between signaling load and radio resource utilization ratio. Based on convex optimization, an iterative algorithm is constructed to solve this problem. Numerical results show the availability of the model.","PeriodicalId":154328,"journal":{"name":"2014 21st International Conference on Telecommunications (ICT)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115442206","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each terminal is enabled with a multiple-antenna maximum ratio combining (MRC) receiver. The objective of this model is to evaluate the performance of adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) in Rayleigh fading channels under two assumptions: 1) correlation between antennas, and 2) user scheduling based on maximum channel gain. The model is useful for cross-layer design purposes, as it provides a relatively low-complex representation of the physical-layer. Closed-form expressions are here derived of correct packet reception probabilities for different modulation and coding schemes (MCSs) with different values of block error rate (BLER) and spectral efficiency. Analytic expressions are derived with the help of the theory of order statistics, which allows for the study of the statistics of channel-aware scheduling. The results indicate that correlation does not always reduce performance. At low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), correlation can improve performance rather than reducing it. By contrast, at high SNR, correlation is shown to always reduce the performance of the receiver. This low-SNR behavior is less evident as the number of antennas increases and more evident when the number of users included in the scheduling process increases.","PeriodicalId":154328,"journal":{"name":"2014 21st International Conference on Telecommunications (ICT)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115530565","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To solve the EIL problem under equal radii, a convex hull algorithm proposed by Wang et al. has low computational complexity. However, for unequal radii, a common tangent algorithm (CTA) proposed by Wang et al. has high computational complexity. In order to deal with the high computational complexity of the common tangent algorithm, on the basis of orthogonal projection theory, we prove that the EIL problem is equal to determine whether there is a straight line, which enables any two circles to have overlapping orthogonal projection onto the line. In fact, the straight line is perpendicular to the straight line of EIL problem. According to this proof, we propose an orthogonal projection algorithm (OPA) to detect nodes flip ambiguities for unequal radii. The algorithm uses the coordinate transformation to simplify the computation process. The simulation results demonstrate that OPA and CTA have exactly the same detection results, but the computational complexity is greatly reduced.","PeriodicalId":154328,"journal":{"name":"2014 21st International Conference on Telecommunications (ICT)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115034069","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among its fundamental functions, the most important is the spectrum sensing which requires high accuracy and low complexity particularly at very low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) values. In this paper, we discuss a recently proposed spectrum sensing detector [1] which explores the sparsity of the Cyclic Autocorrelation Function (CAF), and we analyze its complexity and performance using GNU radio and USRP over real radio channel environment. The presented detector exploits the intrinsic symmetry property and the sparse feature of the CAF in the cyclic frequency domain. Unlike the conventional energy detector and the Dandawaté & Giannakis's algorithm, the implemented detector does not need any prior information neither on the noise variance nor on the primary user's signals. Measurements show that the presented detector performs quite well and it has a low sensing-time in comparison to the classical Dandawaté & Giannakis's algorithm.","PeriodicalId":154328,"journal":{"name":"2014 21st International Conference on Telecommunications (ICT)","volume":"196 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116031221","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The plasma antenna uses a fluorescent tube with length and diameter of 0.61 m and 0.025 m, respectively. The tube contains a mixture of argon and mercury vapor, which becomes conductive when sufficiently ionized into plasma state, allowing transmissions of radio frequency signal. The constructed plasma antenna was equipped with an access-point WiFi Router which is installed inside the casing of the fluorescent tube. The antenna's capability to operate as either a transmitter or receiver in the particular frequency band was verified through a series of wireless transmission experiments. However, this application is characterized by high frequency and small data size, which occupy network resource frequently and may have an impact on other LTE traffic, such as human to human (H2H) traffic, which is characterized by low frequency and big data size. In this paper, we aim to analyze and reduce the impact of FCD traffic on the H2H traffic in a LTE-VANET heterogeneous network. For this purpose, we design a novel FCD transmission scheme and evaluate its impact on H2H traffic, which is represented by the rise of the blocking ratio of the H2H traffic, through a Markovian model. The results of the model show that comparing with other schemes, the novel scheme has a relatively lower impact on the traditional cellular traffic, H2H traffic.","PeriodicalId":154328,"journal":{"name":"2014 21st International Conference on Telecommunications (ICT)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129515091","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, users may hesitate to report such private information due to the potential privacy leakage risk and other extra cost. A compulsory-based scheme which forces consumers to reveal private data, or a punishment scheme in which consumers get penalty for unwillingness to disclose might not be desired. Given the importance of demand information, in this paper, we acknowledge consumers' ownership rights on their private data and propose a novel voluntary-based real-time incentive scheme (RTIS) to promote demand management in the smart grid. In RTIS, Load Serving Entity (LSE) plays the role of power retailer. LSE rewards cooperating consumers with a discounted electricity retail price to compensate the consumers' extra cost associated with participation. By carefully selecting a discount rate, RTIS ensures that LSE can collect sufficient demand response for load anticipation without detriment to its market revenue. Simulation results confirm that our proposed scheme can achieve satisfactory social welfare even compared with compulsory demand upload schemes.","PeriodicalId":154328,"journal":{"name":"2014 21st International Conference on Telecommunications (ICT)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121299622","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
