The device is composed of a set of surge generators and a set of parallel plate transverse electromagnetic wave cells (PPTCs). The field in the PPTCs is uniform so as to test the immunity of EUT. Experiments have been performed to testify its efficiency and feasibility. The results show that the device can work well.","PeriodicalId":153945,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. A test object in the working volume will cause field distortion. In this paper, the FDTD method is used to calculate the field distributions when a test object is situated in the bounded wave simulator or in a radiated plane wave. The errors of the field distribution according to the different ratio of the test object dimensions to the height of the working space is calculated and compared with the field in free space, especially the tangential H field component on the conductor surface. The method to determine the maximum test size in an EMP simulator is corrected based on our discussion. The advantage of the new method is that the results are more reasonable than before.","PeriodicalId":153945,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. Asia-Pacific Conference on Environmental Electromagnetics. The IEC publication 61024-1 'Structure against direct lightning' and China state standard GB 50057 'Design specification of lightning protection in structure' are the main guidance for structure against direct lightning in China. Due to the amount of precision equipment installed in a telecom center, carrying out these lightning protection standards, which aimed to protect humans and some basic installations only against lightning, is not perfect enough. It couldn't provide sufficient protection to the telecommunication network equipment. So the new effective measurements to protect the telecommunication centers and equipment against lightning need to be researched quickly. Though some specifications aimed at protecting telecom centers against lightning have been established, a lot of problems still exist. This paper provides some methods to solve the problems of direct lightning and lightning EMP protection, and earthing.","PeriodicalId":153945,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. In this paper, the response of a series regulator to incident high frequency noise on AC-mains is analytically and experimentally clarified. As a result, it is shown that high frequency response of a series regulator is influenced by the parasitic capacitance between base and collector terminals of the control transistor, the parasitic capacitance between negative-input and output terminals of operational amplifier, and the output impedance of operational amplifier.","PeriodicalId":153945,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. However, patch-antenna designs have some limitations such as restricted bandwidth, low gain, and a decrease in radiation efficiency due to surface wave modes. Surface wave modes in microstrip substrates may cause the undesired energy losses and the reduction of the radiation efficiency of the patch antenna. A scheme to eliminate such modes by using metal fences is proposed. This structure can be easily realized by a metalated hole in manufacturing. It is observed that the patch antenna with this structure shows reduced levels of surface wave modes, thus improving the gain and the radiation pattern.","PeriodicalId":153945,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. In such high-speed systems, the degradation of transmission quality by multipath fading constitutes a limiting barrier. Multipath fading, which results from reflection, refraction and scattering of radio waves by buildings and other structures, gives rise to more than one path reaching the receiver and produces a distorted version of the transmitted signal. In mobile and indoor communication systems it cannot be eliminated, therefore the multipath channel must be well characterized in order to reduce its effect in the design of such systems. The objective of this research is to study the multipath fading and delay spread effects due to buildings in an urban propagation channel. In particular, the effects of the building materials, shapes and number of buildings on multipath fading are being studied.","PeriodicalId":153945,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings.
