This study stimulated atherosclerosis in C57BL/6J mice using P-407 via intraperitoneal injection, and treatment with Andrographolide (AGP) (15, 30 and 45 mg/kg BW) was carried out for six weeks. The heart and aorta were harvested after six weeks and assessed using Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) and histological studies. The results demonstrated that the treatment with AGP reversed the effects of P-407 induced atherosclerosis. The doses of AGP correlated with the reduction of atherosclerosis biomarkers, and a high dose (45 mg/kg BW) was the most significant dose. The Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL), Triglycerides (TG), and Atherogenic Index (AI) were significantly reduced by the AGP treatment. The histological results showed a reduction in inflammation, fibrosis and hypertrophy in the heart tissues of the groups treated with AGP compared to the disease control. In addition, AGP treatment significantly decreased Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) and the inflammation marker (NF-kB). Furthermore, the AGP-treated groups showed typical morphological characteristics of the aorta, while the disease control cells were highly affected. The results demonstrated that AGP is highly recommended as a natural treatment to reduce the symptoms of atherosclerosis by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation.","PeriodicalId":153434,"journal":{"name":"Natural and Applied Sciences International Journal (NASIJ)","volume":" 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141373650","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The key reasons included unplanned built-up regions, town expansion on the mountain slopes, lack of awareness, and poverty. Floods are considered one of Pakistan's most devastating and recurring natural catastrophes. Similarly, district Swat is a highly prone area to flooding and has been severely impacted by recent floods in 2010, 2016, and 2020.  Primary data were acquired through field surveys and direct observation. For micro-level analysis, four villages were selected randomly, i.e. Ningulai, Amamdherai, Shagai, and Paklai. The analysis revealed that floods mainly occurred in summer in July and August in upper Swat, while riverine floods were experienced in lower Swat.  The resultant analysis shows that 95 people died in July 2010, 19 in 2016, and 13 in floods in 2020. The comparison of pre-and-post-flood satellite images reveals that significant changes happened in the post-flood scenario, most notably in the water class, and it was found that the area under water bodies has increased in the post-flood situation.","PeriodicalId":153434,"journal":{"name":"Natural and Applied Sciences International Journal (NASIJ)","volume":"87 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141395466","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Weaknesses in the DFIG system can arise from issues with the power grid due to the stator's direct connection and the excitation converter's power rating limitation. Under situations of unbalanced grid voltage, this study aims to explore the efficacy of the Direct Power Control (DPC) approach in managing wind turbine systems based on DFIG. Throughout the experimental investigation, we evaluated the system in standard and unbalanced grid voltage settings. MATLAB/SIMULINK simulations implement DPC, specifically tailored for a 9 MW DFIG-based wind farm. The results of these simulations show that the changed control method effectively reduces torque oscillations by making it possible to create active and reactive power references for the rotor-side converter. This eliminates the requirement for sequence component excitation, which was previously necessary. Furthermore, the research highlights the intrinsic link between control techniques and grid circumstances, showing this connectivity's crucial role in improving wind energy systems' stability and operational efficiency based on DFIG. ","PeriodicalId":153434,"journal":{"name":"Natural and Applied Sciences International Journal (NASIJ)","volume":" 12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140998078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

GDP is crucial to assess well-versed decisions. Since machine learning techniques are more sophisticated, much interest has been developed in predicting GDP to handle complex data patterns and enhance prediction accuracy. In this study, we evaluated the performance of a variety of machine learning algorithms like Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA), double exponential smoothing, Multilayer Perceptron (MLP), Neural Network Auto-Regressive (NNAR), and hybrid machine learning models on data from 1960 to 2022. The MLP used in Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) outperforms based on the outcomes. This comparative analysis provides insights into the most suitable model for accurate prediction of Pakistani GDP for the years 2023 to 2032. This article provides a detailed analysis of various machine learning models used to predict Pakistan's GDP accurately. GDP prediction is an essential indicator of a nation's economic development and is crucial in making informed decisions. With the advancements in machine learning techniques, there has been a growing interest in predicting GDP due to their efficiency in handling complex data patterns and improving prediction accuracy. ","PeriodicalId":153434,"journal":{"name":"Natural and Applied Sciences International Journal (NASIJ)","volume":"89 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140707818","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The current study attempts to clarify the most important factors of road degradation in Pakistan using a questionnaire prepared and distributed to engineers, contractors, architects, surveyors, and project managers involved in road development and upkeep. The study had 147 replies. This data was collected from employees from various road construction sectors in Pakistan. Convenience sampling, a sort of non-probability sampling, is used for data gathering due to time and resource constraints. The data were analysed through SPSS and Microsoft Excel. The responses were gathered using a 10-point Likert scale. The standard (inadequate density in surface or sub-base) has the maximum rank of 9.1, while the lowest factor (use of naturally smooth uncrushed aggregate) is 2.0. Furthermore, the causes of deterioration were reorganised into eight consistent groups of pertinent causes. The first group (effect of traffic load and volume) has a severity level of 6.5, while the last group (effect of bond between layers) ranks 3.22 in group comparison. The study is helpful in identifying the causes of road deterioration in Pakistan and avoiding or mitigating their effects during design, construction, and maintenance through operation.","PeriodicalId":153434,"journal":{"name":"Natural and Applied Sciences International Journal (NASIJ)","volume":"29 16","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140754104","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, reducing gaseous emissions and air pollutants would help mitigate global warming and improve the low-carbon economy. Therefore, in this study, remote sensing datasets from the Goddard Earth Observing System, Atmospheric Infrared Sounder and Modern-Era Retrospective analysis for Research and Applications Version 2 are carried out to examine the seasonal trends of Carbon dioxide (CO2), Methane (CH4), Ozone (O3) and Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) from 2016 to 2021 over brick kiln zones in Punjab, Pakistan. In this research, 2016 has been taken as the base year to compare the trends of GHGs and AOD in Punjab. Results of the study revealed that the highest concentration of AOD was exhibited in the winter seasons over Purple, Red and Orange Zones of brick kilns. Moreover, the highest extent of CO2, CH4 and AOD was observed in 2017. At the same time, O3 magnitude was evaluated as high during summer seasons which may be attributed to high temperature that leads to elevated formation of O3. Therefore, there is a dire need to undertake Nature Based Solutions (NBS) in the policymaking for the environmental development of Pakistan.","PeriodicalId":153434,"journal":{"name":"Natural and Applied Sciences International Journal (NASIJ)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128977104","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to their dynamic nature and ongoing evolution, historic cities present a more challenging assessment. In Pakistan, several historical buildings have been the custodian of regional cultural and architectural heritage for many decades. They are currently in bad condones and require immediate conservation/restoration to keep them alive for the next generations. Uch Sharif has a long history of religious and architectural significance. Monumental tombs are the container for a city's most significant social, cultural, and architectural characteristics. However, they must contend with several degrading processes, including weathering, vandalism, a lack of organized mechanisms for maintenance and repair, and improper use by various stakeholders. This paper attempts to conservation of a 13th Century monument in Uch Sharif, namely the tomb of Safi-ud-Din Garzoni. It is a marvellous combination of many civilizations in the form of its architectural styles and significant element and construction techniques. The study's findings, in the form of proposed interventions, will apply to other overlooked monuments in Uch Sharif and other cities throughout Pakistan.","PeriodicalId":153434,"journal":{"name":"Natural and Applied Sciences International Journal (NASIJ)","volume":"119 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122099083","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, multiple works have tried to predict multivariate time series. In this paper, different aspects of electricity consumption within a household-based in Lahore real data have been used to make one-hour-ahead forecasts for overall usage. In this study, various Neural Networks (NNs) such as the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network, Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) and the Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) network are used with varying numbers of hidden layers to make multivariate time series analysis and predictions. This study aims to express a clear and precise method for multivariate time series. The models make predictions based on data sets and are trained on past data. Their performance is evaluated using root mean squared error. Their performance was compared, and results are given for the one-hour-ahead forecasts for electricity consumption using machine learning models. In the dynamic field of forecasting electricity use, the study further investigates the possible integration of real data to improve the prediction capacities of machine learning models using Python software. The results show that the RNN performs better than the other two models for the given data.","PeriodicalId":153434,"journal":{"name":"Natural and Applied Sciences International Journal (NASIJ)","volume":"16 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139367538","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Extensive research has already been conducted regarding the impact of such projects on property values and land development in developed regions. However, there is a research gap when it comes to developing countries like Pakistan. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the influence of the road infrastructure development project, the M-9 Motorway, on residential property values and land development in a mega residential project in Bahria Town Karachi (BTK), Pakistan. This study employs a mixed-methodology approach, incorporating qualitative methods (interviews) and quantitative analysis (questionnaire surveys and property data analysis). Statistical tools such as Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), the Pearson correlation coefficient, and the Chi-square goodness of fit test were used for correlation and hypothesis testing. This research reveals that proximity to a major road infrastructure project directly impacts property purchase prices, rents, and land development in BTK, either positively or negatively. The obtained results align with both expectations and the existing literature. Although these findings should not directly apply to other locations and contexts, they can be considered suggestive indicators for planning purposes.","PeriodicalId":153434,"journal":{"name":"Natural and Applied Sciences International Journal (NASIJ)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129843684","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
