This paper starts with brief description of the hologram recording and reconstruction process. After explanation of the filtering concept in holography various filtering techniques that are present in the literature are summarized and supported with simulation results. Then a Hilbert transform based filtering technique is proposed. Performance of the proposed method is evaluated using Mean Squared Error (MSE) analysis and a notable improvement in the signal to noise ratio is observed.","PeriodicalId":152297,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 18th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115011194","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method is composed of two stages. While applying the 2nd Hanning window is formed the first stage, several steps, for phase-based rotational image template matching constitutes the second stage. MATLAB is used for computer simulations. We cropped various image templates for matching purposes. We then rotated that template images with 15, 30 45, 60 and 75 degrees respectively and we saved them. Thus, we obtained totally 60 images for 10 different template images. We finally obtained 93.33% matching accuracy.","PeriodicalId":152297,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 18th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115114486","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two techniques are used for achieving the required CFAR. The first technique determines the adaptive threshold using range neighbouring cells which are located in sliding window. The second one is based on clutter map. In this technique, adaptive threshold is determined using the samples of test cell from previous scans which are assumed to contain no target. In this study, new techniques based on combining the two techniques in the data fusion system (DFS), are proposed. Analytical equations for homogeneous and nonhomogeneous environment are derived and performance analysis are carried out.","PeriodicalId":152297,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 18th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115275441","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the proposed method, the spectral components of the voltage waveform are obtained by Kalman filtering. The method provides the fundamental frequency and the correct spectrum of the voltage waveform, and hence the exact interharmonics are obtained. The proposed method is tested with both simulated and field data obtained from a power system, where the fundamental frequency deviation is significant. The most important advantage of the proposed method is that since the interharmonic frequencies are obtained by Kalman filtering, no leakage effect of the DFT based approaches is observed in the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":152297,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 18th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125771356","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Old people who live alone and those who have chronic diseases constitute the main risk groups. Fast and effective detection of falls will increase the quality of life of these people. In this study, using accelerometers together with a video sensor, a multi-modal fall detection mechanism is proposed and its performance has been evaluated. The results indicate that an accelerometer triggered video processing method will minimize the processing costs together with privacy related issues.","PeriodicalId":152297,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 18th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129990201","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The power system model, handled in this paper, is based on observation with sensors distributed in space. To estimate the dinamic parameters of power systems in the coverage of each sensors, makes control and keep track of system possible. For this purpose, the sensors and power systems which are organized by a distributed network structure, predisposed to a stochastic model called decentralized Kalman filter. Thus, the accurate estimation and measure of system outputs are aimed. Accordingly, a theoretic model has been proposed that provides a general impression and formulation of power systems.","PeriodicalId":152297,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 18th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130115932","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The techniques that are applied on printed documents may not yield satisfactory results. Due to this fact, more developed techniques are decided to be applied consisting of a technique based on Hough transform [1] for line segmentation and a technique that is based on dealing with skewness of lines for word segmentation. The results, which are acquired through studies that are conducted on the documents provided by Afet Đnan and consisting of 30 pages [2], prove to be highly accurate and promising for future researches.","PeriodicalId":152297,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 18th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129317770","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The data are collected by the power quality (PQ) monitors, which are developed through the National PQ Project and installed on the electricity network. The PQ monitors detect the PQ events defined as voltage sags, swells, and interruptions by the IEC Standard 61000–4–30, and collect the raw data of the event. The proposed method aims to cope with the huge event data size and cluster the event types by examining the distribution and variation of the selected features so that PQ events are ultimately classified. The method helps to manage the event data to come up with PQ assessments for the specific measurement points and to make comparisons of various measurement points in terms of PQ of the electricity network.","PeriodicalId":152297,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 18th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130535396","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
