Siderophores, antibiotics, volatile compounds and hydrolytic enzymes are the major molecules secreted by the PGPRs, which have substantial antifungal properties and can provide plant protection. These compounds are responsible for the lysis and hyperparasitism of antagonists against deleterious fungal pathogens. Siderophore-producing PGPRs function by depriving the pathogen of iron nutrition. Antibiotics have been reported to be involved in the suppression of different fungal pathogens by inducing fungistasis, inhibition of spore germination, lysis of fungal mycelia. The PGPRs also secrete a wide range of low molecular weight volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that inhibit mycelial growth, sporulation, germination of phytophathogenic fungi, etc. Hydrolytic enzymes, mostly chitinase, protease and cellulose, lyse the cell wall of fungi. Therefore, plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria can be considered as an effective, eco-friendly, and sustainable replacement to the chemical fungicides. There are many PGPRs that perform very well in controlled conditions but not in field conditions, and hence the commercializing of hese products is not easy. Development of formulations with increased shelf life, a broad spectrum of action and consistent performance under field conditions can pave the way for commercializing the PGPRs at a faster rate. \u0000Journal of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences, Vol. 44, No. 2, 69-84, 2020","PeriodicalId":15109,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences","volume":"60 1","pages":"69-84"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73584889","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Locally available fish species (both fresh and dry fish) were collected from the island to study moisture, ash, fat, protein content, fatty acid compositions and heavy metals. Fish oil was extracted from samples by solid phase dispersion method and fatty acid compositions were analyzed by GC-FID. Protein content in fresh fish samples was determined by the micro-Kjeldahl method. Homogenized samples were digested, filtered and analyzed by AAS for determining toxic heavy metals in the fish samples. Temperature, velocity, average mass flow, etc. at different unit on the top floor of a multistory building are discussed here. For the numerical computation of the air flow inside the building rooms, the k−ε turbulence model is used. ANSYS CFX software is used to solve the governing equations. For modeling the building, Bangladesh's national building code is applied. The turbulence model is also validated by comparing the result with an experimental result and a numerical result. Satisfactory ventilation rate is also ensured by comparing the result with ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2004. \u0000Journal of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences, Vol. 44, No. 2, 161-178, 2020","PeriodicalId":15109,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences","volume":"42 1","pages":"161-178"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77647173","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work reports the determination of the RRFs using the technetium-99m dimercaptosuccinic acid (99mTc-DMSA) and technetium-99m diethylenetriamine-pentaacetic acid (99mTc-DTPA) for children having kidney diseases. The two methods are then compared to find the choice of scintigraphy for a particular type of disease. A total of 65 child kidney patients of ages 5 months - 16 years were the representative samples of the study. The mean RRFs calculated with 99mTc-DTPA was found as and respectively, for the left and right kidneys. On the other hand, the values are and respectively, using 99mTc-DMSA. a significant positive correlation () were found between the RRFs calculated with the two scanning methods in Pearson correlation analysis. In one way ANOVA test, we did not find any difference between the RRFs calculated with 99mTc-DTPA and 99mTc-DMSA between the left and right kidneys. In Bland-Altman Plots, no mean difference was found between the two scanning methods and the correlation limit lies between -13.5 and12.6. The present study suggests using a single method for a particular type of disease. 99mTc-DMSA is the primary choice for the evaluation of RRF since it is easy, inexpensive and also provides cortical morphology, renal scar and cyst evaluation. But for glomerular filtration rate and renogram curve, 99mTc-DTPA should be the obvious selection as 99mTc-DMSA fails to provide any information for these cases. \u0000Journal of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences, Vol. 44, No. 2, 109-119, 2020","PeriodicalId":15109,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences","volume":"27 1","pages":"109-119"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85113606","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

High heritability coupled with high genetic advance was recorded in a number of secondary branches plant-1, a number of siliqua plant-1 and a number of seeds siliqua-1 indicating the effects of additive genes in controlling the traits. Significant and positive association with seed yield plant-1 were observed in the number of primary branches plant-1, a number of seeds siliqua-1, while a negative association was found in days to maturity. The path analysis revealed that the days to first flowering, number of secondary branches plant-1 and 1000 seed weight were the main contributors to seed yield. The results suggest that days to first flowering, number of primary and secondary branches plant-1 and 1000 seed weight may be considered for selection to improve the seed yield in B. rapa. \u0000Journal of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences, Vol. 44, No. 2, 95-107, 2020","PeriodicalId":15109,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences","volume":"73 1","pages":"95-107"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83721558","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
