The study used the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model to analyze the long-run and short-run relationships between the variables. The outcome of the study revealed that the variables are bound together in the long-run. The results also showed that remittances have a negative and significant effect on economic growth both in the long-run and short-run. The study also established that financial sector development has a negative and significant impact on economic growth both in the long-run and short-run. Further, the study confirmed the existence of complementarity between remittances and financial sector development in influencing economic growth. In addition, study revealed that inflation has a negative and significant effect on economic growth both in the long-run and short-run. The findings of the study showed that trade openness, government expenditure, and population growth have no significant impact on economic growth both in the long-run and short-run.","PeriodicalId":150957,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Management, Economics and Social Sciences","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117283758","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At a time when several countries are encouraging policies to promote population growth, other countries are pursuing population stabilisation. For example, while countries such as Denmark, France, Japan and Singapore offer incentives aimed at encouraging births, policy makers aim for a reduction of population growth by curbing fertility rate in Burundi, Kenya, Niger and Rwanda, for example, via family planning programmes, to increase economic growth. The precise relationship between population and economic growth therefore requires further analysis. Some studies provide evidence that supports the preposition that lower population growth might improve economic growth (e.g., Sinding, 2009). National Academy of Sciences (1971) concludes that “lower population growth in developing countries would significantly increase income per capita, and that reduced fertility should be a policy goal for most developing nations”. Specifically, they urge countries with high population growth to reduce their rates of natural increase to less than 15 per 1,000 over the following two decades (Ashraf, Weil and Wilde, 2013). More recently, a study by Karra, Canning and Wilde (2017) suggests that there is a significant negative correlation between population growth and economic growth in Africa. Population growth is influenced by birth and mortality rates. If the latter is relatively low, for example due to advanced medicine, the result is a more aging population. Resulting concerns regarding economic growth are based on two main rationales: declining birth rate and increasing aging populatiDOI:10.32327/IJMESS.8.1.2019.1","PeriodicalId":150957,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Management, Economics and Social Sciences","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127802830","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The global food supply chain today has evolved into a tangled web as companies seek to enhance their capabilities to fulfill customers’ needs. Food traceability system (FTS) can reduce information asymmetry in chain restaurants’ food safety issues. This study used focus group to explore the information requirements of chain restaurants food safety system. The selection of four participants was divided in two groups i.e. external traceability and internal traceability group. External traceability captured and shared critical food ingredients of etraceability with upstream and downstream chain partners. Additionally, FTS timely provides backward trace of ingredients information to supplier's supplier and forward ingredients information to customer's customer. Internal traceability refers to the raw materials or products of each batch in the food chain. The promotion of technology development and application of the value to establish their own external and internal traceability considerations include the origins of food including the practices related to food labeling, food hygiene, food additives and pesticide residues, as well as guidelines for the management of traceability. Through FTS movements can be traced one step backwards and one step forward at any point in the supply chain governmental import and export inspection and certification systems for foods.","PeriodicalId":150957,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Management, Economics and Social Sciences","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131962538","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Following the quantitative approach of enquiry, a self-administered questionnaire was distributed among two groups of students: participants studying entrepreneurship courses as part of their degrees (EEPs Group) and participants not taking any entrepreneurship course (Control Group). Data collection took place in the beginning of the semester (Pre-test/t1) and at the end of the semester (Post-test/t2). The results showed that the intention to become self-employed was positively and significantly associated to attitudes towards self-employment, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control. University students' attitudes towards self-employment, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control not only had significant and positive associations with students' intentions to become self-employed but also predicted it significantly. Therefore, while providing useful insights on the situation of entrepreneurship education, these findings help university and government planners to address unemployment of young people by creating greater entrepreneurial awareness, and jobs through entrepreneurship activities.","PeriodicalId":150957,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Management, Economics and Social Sciences","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121826487","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
