It happens when the activity of ameloblasts is disrupted during the later stages of amelogenesis, leading onto deficient enamel. Clinically, the damaged enamel shows as white to brown defined opacities. Aim: The aim of the study is to find out MIH incidence among 6–11-year-old schoolchildren of two rural community of Jaipur, India. Settings and Design: Among two rural areas of Jaipur, a cross-sectional epidemiological study was undertaken in school kids aged 6–11 years. Materials and Methods: The 1 st permanent molar and incisors were tested for MIH using the diagnostic criteria established by the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry in 2003. Results: A total of 490 children aged 6–11 years were evaluated, with MIH being discovered in 30 of them. There were 20 girls and 10 boys among the children that were impacted. Conclusion: MIH was found in the permanent dentition of 6.12% of schoolchildren in the two villages. Only a small percentage of MIH-affected youngsters have sought dental therapy. To minimize the problem, sufficient awareness and organized preventive and restorative initiatives are essential.","PeriodicalId":14943,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Clinical and Research Insights","volume":"78 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81323459","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A pilot study was done to evaluate the effectiveness of an 8-week-based behavioural counselling, in which salivary cotinine among lower nicotine dependence smoking men (as per Fagerstrom scale) was assessed before and after counselling sessions. Aims: This study aims to compare salivary cotinine levels in male smokers with lower dependence before and after 8-week behavioral counselling sessions. Setting and Design: This was an observational pilot study. Materials and Methods: The study involved 46 smokers, recruited after subjecting to inclusion and exclusion criteria. The individuals were scored based on Fagerstrom test of nicotine dependence (FTND) as “low nicotine dependent and very low dependence.” The unstimulated saliva was collected from the participants in the pre-counselling sessions and subsequently on the 1 st , 3 rd , 7 th , and 8 th week post-quit date. The samples were analyzed for cotinine levels using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay before and after the counselling sessions. Statistical Analysis: Percentages and proportions; Chi-square (χ 2 ) test, Student’s independent t -test, and one-way analysis of variance. Results: Among sample of 46 smokers, 74% ( n = 43) belonged to “very low dependence” and 26% ( n = 12) with “low dependence.” The post-counselling salivary cotinine values were significantly low (19.54 ± 10.2) against the pre-counselling values of the (26.7 ± 10.1) samples(p<0.05). Conclusion: This study proved that a non-invasive, non-pharmacological technique such as an 8-week behavioural counselling helped smokers with lower dependence (FTND scores <6) of tobacco. Future studies can be considered in adopting this method for smokers with high tobacco dependence.","PeriodicalId":14943,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Clinical and Research Insights","volume":"50 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88823958","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most of them occur due to localized irritational factors. Broadly, they are termed as “Epulis.” Peripheral ossifying fibroma (POF) is a soft-tissue growth that is usually seen on the interdental papilla. Our case report presented 14-year-old boy with gingival overgrowth on palatal side of the anterior maxillary region since 5 months, which was treated with combination of CO2 laser and scalpel under local anesthesia. Post-operative follow-up was done for 1 year and no evidence of recurrence noted.","PeriodicalId":14943,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Clinical and Research Insights","volume":"60 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91551840","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since antibiotics do not directly affect the host cells, they are often prescribed on a just-in-case basis. In conjunction with antibiotic resistance, the occurrence of health consequences with sensitization response alongside super infection has generally been reported with antibiotic usage. The current study explores the use of antibiotics in dental practice and offers components to facilitate the ethical use of such medications.","PeriodicalId":14943,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Clinical and Research Insights","volume":"70 1","pages":"53-56"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76212958","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
