When it comes to cancer-related deaths in males under 50, colorectal cancer ranks first, and in women, it is second. Gastric cancer and colorectal cancer are the two main types of intestinal neoplasms. Among East Asian populations, gastric cancer has the highest incidence rates. Studies reveal a critical role for gastrointestinal microecology in the development and course of gastrointestinal tumors. In addition to providing a brief overview of the pathophysiology and standard treatments for stomach tumors, this paper addresses the state of research regarding the connection between gastrointestinal microecology and immunological treatment of stomach tumors. The process by which gastric cancer develops is complex and involves variations in growth patterns, mucus separation, cellular structure, and genetic makeup. Microecological imbalances, genetic factors, and poor dietary practices are major causes of gastric cancer. Chemotherapy, surgery, radiation therapy, and targeted therapies are among the current treatment options. Immune checkpoint antagonists, combination immunotherapy, and adoptive immune-mediated cell therapy have all shown notable effectiveness in clinical practice. However, immunotherapy still faces obstacles from immune-related side effects and treatment resistance. Subsequent investigations will probe further into the correlation between gastrointestinal microecology and gastrointestinal tumors, presenting novel approaches to the management and avoidance of gastrointestinal neoplasms.","PeriodicalId":147629,"journal":{"name":"Highlights in Science, Engineering and Technology","volume":"8 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141809265","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite advancements in medical research, the cause of epilepsy remains elusive for approximately 70% of patients, highlighting a significant gap in our understanding of the disorder. Moreover, because of problems including medication resistance and side effects from conventional Antiseizure medications (ASMs), new approaches to therapy are needed. This review summarizes different mechanisms and Available therapies for epilepsy, and point out some new and developing treatments with an emphasis on precision medicine and innovative pharmacological targets. GPCRs and neuroinflammatory pathways have the potential to be effective therapeutic targets, according to some novel literature review. By customizing medicines to each patient's unique genetic profile, these developments, when combined with precision medicine, are increasing treatment efficacy and decreasing adverse effects. This research suggests that if this emerging discovery incorporated into clinical practice in the future, it may improve patient quality of life and worldwide epilepsy care and public health policies should be strengthened.","PeriodicalId":147629,"journal":{"name":"Highlights in Science, Engineering and Technology","volume":"22 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141808785","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Progress in immune-drugs of Hemato-oncology","authors":"Xibing Feng","doi":"10.54097/whcw5b21","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.54097/whcw5b21","url":null,"abstract":"Hematological tumors are a significant disease that poses a serious threat to human health, with morbidity and mortality rates ranking among the highest for all types of tumors. Targeted and immunotherapy for hematological tumors have made significant progress in various aspects, and the utilization of new drugs has enhanced the overall effectiveness of treating hematological tumors. As medicine enters a new era of personalized treatment, monoclonal antibody drugs, with their unique mechanism of action and high efficiency, play an immeasurably important role in the treatment of malignant tumors. Monoclonal antibodies are also utilized as targeting agents for delivering nanomedicines containing cytotoxic payloads or directly linked to cytotoxic drugs. The use of monoclonal antibodies has become a popular treatment for hematologic tumors, as evidenced by significant commercial success. The main features of monoclonal antibody drugs compared to traditional chemical drugs are that monoclonal antibodies are biological drugs with higher biotransformation efficiency, i.e., a higher success rate, and fewer side effects. However, targeted drug monotherapy often yields poor remission rates, and the efficacy and safety of immunotherapy need further enhancement. This article will begin by discussing hematological oncology and provide an overview of the principles, advantages, and disadvantages of several common monoclonal antibody drugs currently available on the market. It will also explore the potential for combined use of monoclonal antibodies, offering direction and assistance for future research in this field.","PeriodicalId":147629,"journal":{"name":"Highlights in Science, Engineering and Technology","volume":"12 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141809035","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The vicious cycle of hyperandrogenemia (HA), insulin resistance, and obesity symptoms in overweight/obese PCOS patients seriously affects their physical and mental health. Mediterranean diet (MD), as one of the healthy dietary patterns, is gradually attracting attention. After a comprehensive analysis of the therapeutic effects and current research progress of the MD on overweight/obese PCOS patients, this article found that the MD pattern uses foods such as soybeans, fish, olive oil, almonds, walnuts, etc. to regulate various physical and chemical factors in the body and improve the related symptoms associated with PCOS patients. At the same time, it is proved that MD mode can reduce the long-term disease risk of PCOS such as cardio cerebrovascular disease, type 2 diabetes (T2D) and fatty liver to a certain extent. In addition to single use, the lifestyle intervention of MD combined with physical exercise can also improve the therapeutic effect. However, there are still limitations in the application and research progress of the MD model in China, and further exploration is needed to choose personalized dietary models.","PeriodicalId":147629,"journal":{"name":"Highlights in Science, Engineering and Technology","volume":"6 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141809115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Comparative Study on Early-Maturing High-Quality Sweet Corn Varieties Introduced from Abroad for Autumn Cultivation in the Pearl River Delta Region","authors":"Yutong Wu","doi":"10.54097/azqg5e56","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.54097/azqg5e56","url":null,"abstract":"This study conducts a comparative analysis of six high-quality, early-maturing sweet corn varieties introduced from international sources, with a focus on their suitability for autumn cultivation in the Pearl River Delta region. The research evaluates these varieties against a range of agronomic traits, including growth period, plant height, ear height, yield, quality characteristics, and disease resistance, using the local variety 'Zhu Yu 2' as a control. The results indicate that the introduced varieties generally exhibit earlier maturation and shorter plant heights, with 'Golden 15' and 'Early Honeysweet' standing out as the most promising candidates for local cultivation due to their superior quality attributes. Despite producing lower yields compared to 'Zhu Yu 2', these varieties demonstrate enhanced sweetness, thinner pericarps, and improved taste, which are highly valued in the sweet corn market. Additionally, they show robust disease resistance, particularly against leaf blight and northern corn leaf spot, which is beneficial for sustainable farming practices. This paper provides valuable insights into the adaptability of internationally bred sweet corn varieties to the subtropical climate of the Pearl River Delta and discusses the implications for local agricultural practices. The findings highlight the potential for these varieties to extend the growing season and improve profitability for farmers, while also emphasizing the need for ongoing breeding programs to optimize yield without compromising quality. The study offers a foundation for future research aimed at developing hybrid varieties that combine the best traits of international and local cultivars, tailored to the unique conditions of the region.","PeriodicalId":147629,"journal":{"name":"Highlights in Science, Engineering and Technology","volume":"56 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141809529","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although many literature has pointed out some defects and causes in the dietary structure of Chinese college students, there is still a lack of summary of these research results. The author searched multiple literature on the dietary structure problems of Chinese college students since 2021, classified them based on the causes of the mentioned dietary structure defects, and summarized several major reasons that lead to the current poor dietary structure of Chinese college students. At the same time, based on the relevant survey results of diet self-management (DSM) and some literature, the author attempts to provide suggestions that can improve the current situation. The reasons for the poor dietary structure of Chinese college students can be simply classified into four categories: excessive personal taste, poor dietary habits, lack of knowledge about healthy eating, and lack of a healthy eating environment. There is a phenomenon of mutual promotion and deterioration among these four types of reasons. A college student's DSM is a comprehensive result of multiple factors. Inducing positive factors that have a high impact on DSM can improve the DSM of college students and improve their dietary structure. In the future, the government and universities can mainly solve this problem from two aspects. On the one hand, it is to improve the personal nutritional literacy of students; On the other hand, it is to create a better dining environment.","PeriodicalId":147629,"journal":{"name":"Highlights in Science, Engineering and Technology","volume":"54 22","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141809836","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
