Changes are focused on the certification process. According to ERA these changes are recommended for bogies holding IC certificate issued according to the former TSI WAG, without assessment of the strength of the bogie frame. \u0000The presented methods allow designing a bogie platform with a wide range of applications in regional, and long-distance trains. Issues related to calculations, and studies of bogie frames are described. Particular attention is paid to methods for determining loads applied to the bogie frame based on assumed axle loads, determining reference forces for the projected shock absorbers, and compiling computational cases for strength analysis of traction units.","PeriodicalId":147282,"journal":{"name":"Rail Vehicles/Pojazdy Szynowe","volume":"105 42","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141666242","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The energy consumption of the disc (energy losses) is divided into inertia losses and fan losses. The article is preceded by a review of the design solutions of brake discs of rail vehicles in terms of their ventilation and cooling after braking. Particular attention was paid to three types of brake disc designs with ventilation blades, bars and other shapes of ventilation bridges, and how the ventilation of these discs affects energy losses. On the one hand, forced ventilation of brake discs shortens the cooling time after intensive braking, on the other hand, it causes energy losses due to forced ventilation when the brakes are not used. The article presents the state of knowledge regarding the cooling efficiency of brake discs as a result of forced ventilation and presents a method for calculating the energy consumption generated by the brake disc in relation to the rotational speed. The energy losses were divided in the article into inertia losses due to the rotating mass and losses on the fan, in which the energy necessary for the rotation of the brake disc was determined from the method of calculating centrifugal fans with known geometric dimensions.","PeriodicalId":147282,"journal":{"name":"Rail Vehicles/Pojazdy Szynowe","volume":"7 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140702578","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The investigation was conducted using AVL Boost software and the implemented PCSI combustion model. The scope of the analysis included different neck diameters from 17 to 26 mm and variations of the ignition timing in the range of 0 to 40 degrees. Using the narrowest ignition chamber neck resulted in the largest inter-chamber throttling effect. This translated into an increase in the maximum pressure in the cylinder, obtaining more heat release and the heat release rate. Further reduction of the constriction below 17 mm led to a rapid pressure increase in the ignition chamber at the start of combustion above the maximum pressure in the cylinder, for which the indicated constriction value was considered limiting.","PeriodicalId":147282,"journal":{"name":"Rail Vehicles/Pojazdy Szynowe","volume":"158 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140222649","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This growing awareness was confirmed, among other things, by harmonising the content of the regulations on railway safety and interoperability, the safety certification of railway undertakings and the definition of the tasks and roles of national safety authorities. In effect, this was to enable the development of a single European railway area. An implementation tool that allows for a systematic approach to safety management processes and that enables the above requirements to be met is, among other things, RAMS analyses. A key step in the safety management process for specifying RAMS is hazard identification, which is particularly highlighted in PN EN 50126-2:2018 through the holistic model for risk assessment and control of railway system hazards (hourglass model). It places the hazard identification process in two stages, i.e. in the early development stage of the analysis (similar to other known risk management models) and in the hazard control stage. This positioning alone indicates the importance of the hazard identification process. On the comprehensiveness and detail of its implementation depends the validity of the final outcome of the RAMS analysis. The development of such a process for real technical facilities in a way that is consistent with the needs of RAMS analyses and, at the same time, ensures that satisfactory results of these analyses are achieved, has become the subject of this article.","PeriodicalId":147282,"journal":{"name":"Rail Vehicles/Pojazdy Szynowe","volume":"348 16‐17","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139148902","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was also proposed to expand the existing GTFS file of the ZTM (PT authority) in Poznań to include a detailed description of a selected two-level tram stop. A testbed equipped with open source software was built and used for this purpose. The study showed that despite the fact that in Poland, PT organizers and operators do not provide detailed information on its accessibility to people with disabilities, the preparation of such information is possible, while modifications to the data generated so far may be required, especially regarding the stops. However, the preparation and updating of this data on a nationwide scale may pose a problem.","PeriodicalId":147282,"journal":{"name":"Rail Vehicles/Pojazdy Szynowe","volume":"41 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138597006","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The energy parameters obtained during acceleration and braking of the loaded bus were taken as input data. It was found that over 13 kWh of energy was lost irretrievably in the braking resistors. Due to the speed of the discussed process, capacitors with an original design were proposed for energy recovery. For the purposes of this study, electrodes were fabricated using carbon derived from lignin carbonization at two distinct temperatures: 900°C and 1000°C. Based on the electrochemical tests carried out, it was found that the second proposed solution achieves a significantly better power-to-weight ratio – 13 kW/kg.","PeriodicalId":147282,"journal":{"name":"Rail Vehicles/Pojazdy Szynowe","volume":"125 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138606837","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thanks to this solution, it became possible to reduce fuel consumption and, at the same time, to increase the combustion process indicators (including the overall combustion system efficiency). The article presents the results of numerical tests of a heavy-duty engine equipped with the TJI system running on gas fuels. The AVL BOOST software was used to analyze the effects of different fuel injection rates into the pre-chamber and various ignition timing angles, while maintaining a constant global excess air ratio. Increasing the proportion of hydrogen in the pre-chamber resulted in its reduction in the main chamber (the fuel dose was kept constant with different excess air coefficients in each of the chambers). The maximum combustion pressure values in both chambers were investigated. Changes in the amount of heat released and its release rate were determined. As a result of the simulations, different ignition and combustion conditions were presented for the tested fuels. Based on this, maps of fuel dose to prechamber vs. ignition advance angle were drawn up, showing selected thermodynamic indicators of the combustion process.","PeriodicalId":147282,"journal":{"name":"Rail Vehicles/Pojazdy Szynowe","volume":"127 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139197235","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This effect was achieved by varying the stiffness of the guidance of the wheelsets in the horizontal plane of the frame of each bogie on which the wagon body rests. This ensured the required critical speed of the metro wagon when moving on straight track, and allowed for reduced mechanical wheel wear and better steering of the bogies when moving on curved track with a small radius of curvature. Parameters specific to the design of modern metro cars were taken into account. Current knowledge of non-linear lateral dynamics of rail vehicles and the specialist computer programme Vi-Rail were used to perform the calculations involving simulation models.","PeriodicalId":147282,"journal":{"name":"Rail Vehicles/Pojazdy Szynowe","volume":"465 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139203159","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
