The biometric analysis was performed on more than eleven thousand fish. Growth and mortality indices were calculated including infinite length (L∞=88cm), growth coefficient (K=0.3 (yr -1 )), growth performance index (Ф=4.19), natural mortality (M= 0.58(yr -1 )), fishing mortality (F=0.3 (yr -1 )), total mortality (Z=0.88±0.1 (yr -1 )) and exploitation coefficient (E = 0.34 (yr -1 )) as well as length time at time zero (-0.41). Relative production per recruitment, relative biomass per recruitment and exploitation rate of K. pelamis were Y'/R p =0.01, B' /R p =0.4 and U=0.22, respectively. The present study showed that the K. pelamis had desirable stock conditions and fish stocks have not reached 'overfished' status. The Pobj value is 1 0, the fishery show considered medium desirable. According to the terms and situation mentioned conditions assessed, and considering the sustainable fishing requirements, it is possible to increase the catch of this species in the south of the country.","PeriodicalId":14599,"journal":{"name":"Iranian Journal of Ichthyology","volume":"8 1","pages":"160-169"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48290768","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Identification was confirmed based on a series of morphological characters including, a minute supraorbital tentacle, 3-5 symphyseal mandibular pores, a numerous number of scales in lateral line (36-37) and a low number of total lateral scale rows (38-39). Specimens were found in coral reef areas at depths of 1-15m of the Gulf of Oman in the Indo-Pacific region. Compared to the other members of Helcogramma , H. ellioti is regarded as a medium to large body size species (25.0-57.0mm SL). Although several species of triplefin fishes have been reported from the Persian Gulf, but, it is the first record from Tripterygiidae for the Iranian waters of the Gulf of Oman.","PeriodicalId":14599,"journal":{"name":"Iranian Journal of Ichthyology","volume":"8 1","pages":"181-188"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41347305","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Parenti","doi":"10.22034/IJI.V8I0.556","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.22034/IJI.V8I0.556","url":null,"abstract":"A checklist of the fishes of the order Gobiiformes is presented. The checklist contains 3585 nominal species names (including 77 as incertae sedis and 50 not available names) representing 2310 valid species in 324 genera. Species and genera are grouped within seven families (Agorreta et al. 2013): Ryacichthyidae, Odontobutidae, Butidae, Eleotrididae, Milyeringidae, Thalasseleotrididae and Gobiidae. The formerly family Xenisthmidae is included in Eleotrididae. The family Gobiidae is the largest marine fish family with 2086 species, one fourth of Gobiidae inhabiting freshwaters and grouped in nine subfamilies (Agorreta et al. 2013): Amblyopinae, Gobiinae, Gobionellinae, Oxudercinae, Sicydiinae, Kraemeriinae, Microdesminae, Ptereleotrinae, and Schindleriinae. The most speciose genus is Eviota with 123 species, followed by Trimma (107 species) and Rhinogobius (86 species); 20 genera contain 21 to 39 species, 42 genera include 10 to 20 species, 102 genera are monotypic, whereas 55 contain only two species and 104 genera contain 3–9 species. From the nominal species that are listed as incertae sedis in current literature I was able to remove the following combinations which are here regarded as new synonyms: Batrachus guavina Bloch and Schneider, 1801 is a senior synonym of Guavina guavina (Valenciennes, 1837); Eleotris lucani Rochebrune, 1885 is a junior synonym of Dormitator lebretonis (Steindachner, 1870); Eleotris siculus Swainson, 1839 is a senior synonym of Odondebuenia balearica (Pellegrin and Fage 1907); Gobius aterrimus Rafinesque, 1814 is a junior synonym of Gobius niger Linnaeus, 1758); Gobius erythrostomus Walbaum, 1792 is a junior synonym of Gobius cruentatus Gmelin, 1789; Gobius djiddensis Bonnaterre, 1788 is a senior synonym of Cryptocentroides arabicus (Gmelin, 1789)]; Gobius pustulatus Bonnaterre, 1788 is a senior synonym of Gobius cruentatus Gmelin, 1789; Gobius miniaceus Rochebrune, 1885 is a junior synonym of Porogobius schlegelii (Gunther, 1861)]; Scorpaena diepiptera Bianconi, 1862 is a junior synonym Butis butis Hamilton, 1822. Regalecus lanceolatus Lacepede, 1800 is a senior synonym of Acanthogobius hasta (Temminck and Schlegel, 1845) and together with Batrachus guavina Bloch and Schneider, 1801, Eleotris siculus Swainson, 1839, Diaphoroculius rangiroae Fowler, 1938, Gobius djiddensis Bonnaterre, 1788 and Gobius pustulatus Bonnaterre, 1788 are all here declared nomina oblita . Gobius miniaceus Rochebrune, 1885 is a junior synonym of Porogobius schlegelii (Gunther, 1861); Gobius mediterraneus Bloch and Schneider, 1801 is here regarded as a new synonym of G. niger Linnaeus, 1758.","PeriodicalId":14599,"journal":{"name":"Iranian Journal of Ichthyology","volume":"8 1","pages":"1-480"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42908568","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this study is to prove that the growth period of some demersal fish species is biphasic. Two growth models (two-phase growth model (TPGM) and VBGM) were used to estimate the growth parameters of the mentioned species and the results were compared by Akaike's Information Criterion (AIC). In 11 cases out of 15 which were tested for different sexes and combined sets, TPGM was determined to reveal more reliable estimations and provides better goodness of fit according to Akaike's Information Criterion (AIC), Δ i, and w criteria. It is also found that VBGM tended to yield higher L ∞ values and therefore should not be considered as the unique model. It is concluded that the two-phase growth model was the best model for overall cases in this study and it is recommended that comparisons should be performed among different models before the construction of a growth curve for any fish species.","PeriodicalId":14599,"journal":{"name":"Iranian Journal of Ichthyology","volume":"8 1","pages":"125-133"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45058649","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
