By incorporating rectangular baffles in the middle of the distributed air passing channel at different angles of inclination (  = 90  ,  = 180  ,  = 180  and  = 90  ). That is called the model H. These experiments were carried out in the Biskra region of Algeria in good natural conditions with an average solar radiation approximately constant I= 869 W/m 2 varying from 11:30 to 14:00. After the completion of the experimental investigation, a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model was created that matches this experimental model with the same experimental boundary conditions. In the numerical study, ANSYS Fluent 18.1 was used to conduct simulations and compare the results of the thermal and hydraulic performance of the collector. It was concluded that the effectiveness of the CFD model, meaning that the theoretical and numerical data were very close to each other for all mass flow rates. As the mass flow increased the heat transfer process increased, while the absorber plate temperature inside the collector for experimental and numerical studies decreased. Addition of baffles increased heat transfer, due to the creation of turbulent flow that leads to crack the dead thermal layers near the absorber plate, which leads to an increase in heat transfer from the absorber plate to the air.","PeriodicalId":14542,"journal":{"name":"Iranian Journal of Energy and Environment","volume":"23 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91419547","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different concentrations of nanofluids are injected into the reactor at the operating condition of 29 bar, 274.15 K, and impeller speed of 100 rpm. It was observed that the kinetics of the carbon dioxide hydrate formation process was greatly affected by the nanoparticles. The remarkable point was that at a very low concentration of 20 ppm, a considerable improvement on the carbon dioxide hydrate formation kinetic without using any surfactant was obtained. At the concentration of 20 ppm, the values of the initial rate of hydrate formation, growth time, and induction time were 0.0495, 194.5, and 4.4 min, respectively, which these results can be of great importance for the use of carbon dioxide hydrate in various industries. The results indicated that the kinetics of gas hydrate formation was also severely influenced by the impeller speed and initial gas pressure. The rate of CO 2 captured in the hydrate crystalline lattice is also modeled by the first-order kinetic model. It was seen that this model can be used to predict the rate of hydrate formation with considerable accuracy.","PeriodicalId":14542,"journal":{"name":"Iranian Journal of Energy and Environment","volume":"7 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75666544","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The designed mechanisms were centered on the dynamics of the machine components that consist mainly of links and joints. Tensions and loads were determined by following the force balance equations. Bearings were selected from the SKF bearing catalogue by considering their positions, evaluation of the demands of the failure theories alongside with the dynamic load carrying capacities. Stability test was conducted on conveyor/mixing shaft of mass 11.2561kg and density 8000kg/m3 by fixing one end and applying pressure of 1.061x10-3N/mm2 towards the other end in line with demands of distortion energy theory. Frame stability test was also conducted by applying beam mesh that generated 354 nodes and 334 elements. Tension of 205.2N and 126.5N were calculated at the pulley. Various loads and moments acting on different shafts were determined and represented diagrammatically. Von mises stress of 1.847E+00N/mm2 on conveyor shaft and upper bound axial and bending stress of 2.759E+06N/m2 on the frame that was below material’s yield strength of 2.068E+08N/m2 based on the result of simulation test indicated stability of the design. The current study assessed the safety of well water in the four emirate zones (Gwandu, Yauri, Argungu, and Zuru) of Kebbi State, Nigeria. Using normal procedures, samples of well water were examined for heavy metals, physicochemical characteristics, and microorganisms, and the results were compared to the World Health Organization (WHO) drinking water criteria. The heavy metals’ chronic daily ingestion ( CDI ) and hazard quotient ( HQ ) were also determined. The results showed that well water in the four emirate zones had normal temperature, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), dissolved oxygen (DO), total suspended solids (TSS), and zinc (Zn). However, non-permissible concentrations of lead (Pb), iron (Fe), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), and pH (Gwandu and Argungu only) were detected in all the water samples. Except for Cd and Cr in children, the CDI and HQ of the heavy metals were normal. The microbiological examinations revealed that the water samples from the four zones had abnormal levels of Bacillus species (bacteria), Escherichia coli (bacteria), Staphylococcus aureus (bacteria), Aspergillus niger (fungi), Mucor racemosa (fungi), and Paecilomyces variotti (fungi). The results obtained suggest that well water in the four zones is not suitable for human consumption unless treated.","PeriodicalId":14542,"journal":{"name":"Iranian Journal of Energy and Environment","volume":"299 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79395650","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
