For low-cost implementations, One-Power-Point maximum power tracking is preferable due to its ease of implementation and fast tracking ability. Its drawback is that power coefficient Cp deteriorates during wind speed drops. This means the wind turbine speed cannot track rapid wind speed changes. The rate of rotation speed is determined not only by the system inertia, but also the difference between the mechanical power and electromagnetic power. An optimization method based on One-Power-Point operation is developed to improve the system performance and energy conversion efficiency. There is no additional equipment, mechanical sensors or measurements. Simulation results confirm the functionality and feasibility of the method.","PeriodicalId":145288,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2010 - 36th Annual Conference on IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128650394","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main differences between standard direct torque control and the proposed approach are the flexibility and simple algorithm implementation, which does not require complex predefined switching tables nor logic to select among them, as standard direct torque control requires. The dynamic performance is similar between them although torque ripple is smaller using the proposed controller. Predictive torque control is sensitive to parameters variation, however the prediction uses the same information required by standard direct torque control estimator. Simulation results validate the proposed control scheme and shows a performance comparison with the standard direct torque control strategy.","PeriodicalId":145288,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2010 - 36th Annual Conference on IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129666952","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the smallest multi-axis force/moment sensor has excess height, which restricts postures in tasks by a robot hand. In this paper, we aim to develop the thin-type four-axis force/moment sensor that can measure the twisting moment on the finger cushion of a robot hand and improve performance of this sensor by structural optimization, including strain gauge. As a result of applying structural optimization techniques using response surface method and desirability function on the four-axis force/moment sensor by finite element analysis, we obtained optimum design variables and validated the effectiveness of the proposed techniques. Finally, we made the production model of this sensor and performed characteristics test by applying optimum design variables. We obtained sufficient sensitivities concerning each axial load by sensitivity evaluation of experimental results and showed the effectiveness of the developed sensor.","PeriodicalId":145288,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2010 - 36th Annual Conference on IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130088304","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed control architecture contains an FPGA, a DAC and a comparator, where the FPGA is a control processor that implements DPWM generation and a PID control algorithm. The DAC in conjunction with the comparator operates in two operational modes: one is a conversion mode performing successive approximation A/D conversion, and the other is a modulation mode providing an instant pulse-width modulator in the analog domain. The fast response of this mixed-signal control architecture makes itself close in dynamic behavior to its analog counterpart. Furthermore, the proposed solution is also effective, since all components used are viable for power integration. Its features and performance are sufficient to promote itself for implementation in many industrial digital control systems.","PeriodicalId":145288,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2010 - 36th Annual Conference on IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131089282","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The NFC serves as the speed controller of the drive. It is designed so as to generate the appropriate command q-axis current and ensure dynamic speed control. The back-propagation technique is used for the online tuning of this adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) parameters. Furthermore, a Mamdani type FLC is designed and incorporated to optimize the developed torque ripple by online adaptation of the hysteresis band limits of the PWM current controller. A performance comparison of the proposed NFC-FLC based IPMSM drive with conventional proportionalintegral (PI) controller based IPMSM drive having fixed hysteresis band limits is provided. Comparative simulation results demonstrate better torque response and dynamic speed performance of the proposed drive at different operating conditions.","PeriodicalId":145288,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2010 - 36th Annual Conference on IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"63 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126968173","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents an active distribution power system, including CHPs (Combined Heating and Power) and small scaled WTs (Wind Turbines), as a practical example to examine the possible impacts of communication technologies on the power system. Under some fault scenarios, the power system's responses to the fault are compared between the system with communication technologies and that without communication technologies. At the same time, the previously proposed study method of combining the simulations of communication and power systems is adopted in this study. The performance of a communication network adopted for power system is simulated by OPNET, and then the corresponding power system is studied by EMTDC/PSCAD. By incorporating a software module to measure the efficiency with the assistance of a LabVIEW software module, we propose a design for our virtual instrument (VI) with a front panel as a friendly user interface to control the efficiency measurement system, rather than the manually operated designs which not only require more manpower but are also time-consuming. Our design also improves the accuracy by utilizing automatic measurement. By using our software module, our system increases the loading of the DC-DC converter with a smaller error to measure and record both the input voltage/current, and it the output voltage/current and automatically performs a valid functional analysis. Our software cooperates with hardware instruments by means of a GPIB (General Purpose Interface Bus) interface. The output loading can be controlled exactly for each second due to the transient limitation of a DC-DC converter.","PeriodicalId":145288,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2010 - 36th Annual Conference on IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"118 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130430736","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
