This paper proposes a new information retrieval-based plagiarism detection algorithm that handles multilingual documents and enables seamless integration with learning management systems. The proposed algorithm employs information retrieval and sequence matching techniques to identify suspected plagiarized sentences and permits parametric control to reduce both false-positive and false-negative results. The full-featured implementation, called iChecker, not only could quickly identify suspected plagiarized works but also ease academics' effort to evaluate the severity of the offence by a quantified measure. Currently iChecker is adopted by over 300 courses (with some having several hundred of students) and has obtained satisfactory results. Within the first section, three empirical studies are highlighted to indicate the actual occurrence of plagiarism in graduate education and the role the Internet may play in influencing AI. In the second section, a description of both how and why students conduct plagiarism is presented. Existing literature on the topic is explored to better inform stakeholders on the ‘why' component with suggestions for potential mitigating solutions. The subsequent section describes plagiarism detection software that is commonly in use across the globe including best practices on how to interpret detection results. The major emphasis is on to construct a framework to detect plagiarism from monolingual texts by implementing n-gram frequency comparison approach. The framework is based on 120 characteristics which have been extracted during pre-processing steps using simple NLP approach. Afterward, filter metrics has been applied to select most relevant features and supervised classification learning algorithm has been used later to classify the documents in four levels of plagiarism. Then, confusion matrix was built to estimate the false positives and false negatives. Finally, the authors have shown C4.5 decision tree-based classifier's suitability on calculating accuracy over naive Bayes. Unfortunately, an unintended and undesirable aspect of e-Learning is centered on unethical behavior exhibited by students engaged in technology-facilitated cheating. Interestingly, cheating in e-Learning systems occurs in the social context of the class. Using results from a qualitative field study, the authors investigate the socio-technical dimensions of ethical decision-making in e-Learning systems focusing on individual and situational factors. They developed propositions and provide an in-depth discussion of identified factors. This chapter investigates EIBT students' own perceptions of “ethics” in a major assessment task embedded in a course titled “Business and Society”. The main goal of this chapter is the selection of plagiarism detection software (PDS) and its integration into Moodle, an open source learning management system (LMS), for the use of a higher education institution. For this reason, first, the selection criteria are determined by nominal group technique (NGT) and then the most appropriate PDS is selected. At the end of the study, Crot, an open source PDS, is determined and integrated into Moodle. However, to avoid plagiarism it is important to make sure that licensing in digital textbooks' use and development is properly used. For licensing to be a benefit for learning, it is important to note that it may impose additional costs. This chapter reflects and includes in discussion the issue on licensing, specifically the Creative Common (CC) license of open educational resources. Secondly, it considers how the Creative Common License could improve the proper use of digital textbooks.
