Recent WMNs use multiple-radio and multiple channels to provide high performance. However, interference between channels is considered the key challenge for WMN performance. In WMN, the data flows are directed from/to the gateways. Thus, the quality of the critical links close to the gateways should be properly considered during channel assignments. Otherwise, network fragmentation and bottleneck problem may occur which affect the performance of the network due to congestions, and unfair channel distribution. Unfortunately, the existing channel assignments focusing only on the links close to the gateways and neglecting other critical links. This paper proposes a fair channel assignment algorithm based on weighted link ranking scheme in order to minimize the interference and thus improve the capacity of the network. The links are fairly ranked based on multiple criteria obtained from traffic and network topology such as distance from the gateways, interference index, and, traffic load. The results from numerical simulation demonstrate that the proposed channel assignment algorithm has reduced the interference, improving the network capacity, and achieves the fairness of channel distribution.","PeriodicalId":144334,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Fourth International Conference on Engineering & MIS 2018","volume":"366 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121729798","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper presents a novel and applicable copy hyperspectral image lossy compressing founded in intra-prediction fractals bandwidth and hybrid between bands. The hyper spectral color picture is divided to different groups of bandings (GOB). So, the intraband estimate is used the first banding to each one GOB, overworking the spatial relation, as the form encrypting between banding through a resident exploration procedure is used to other bands at apiece (GOB), maximizing resident likeness among two together banding. The fractals constraints is contracted with coded Exponential-Golomb coding entropies. So, progress the decrypted value, the forecast mistake and the remaining fractal transform, quantize and encoded into entropy. Experimental compression results show that our scheme can achieve a actual high peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) at low-slung bit degree and achieve a medium PSNR increase taking into account the overall bit complexity encoding rates compared to other lossless compression methods. Furthermore, the classification of the accuracy of our reconstructed image is 99.75%, which is better than the original uncompressed image.","PeriodicalId":144334,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Fourth International Conference on Engineering & MIS 2018","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128232306","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, most MOEAs work well only when the number of objective functions is small such as two or three. The performance of MOEAs starts degrading significantly when number of objective functions increases. Therefore, there is increasing importance for studying and analyzing the effect of increasing the number of objective functions on the performance of current multi objective evolutionary algorithms. In this paper, the performance of three state-of-the-art multi objective evolutionary algorithms is investigated when increasing the number of objective functions. The tested algorithms are analyzed using test DTLZ test suit. The results show that SMPSO and NSGA-II algorithms are the best two algorithms for high number of objective functions. In addition, the results show that the running time of SMPSO and GDE3 algorithms was effected and increased much when the number of objective functions is large.","PeriodicalId":144334,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Fourth International Conference on Engineering & MIS 2018","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131249123","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditionally IDSs (Intrusion detection systems) have been developed by applying machine learning techniques and adopted single learning mechanism. This is later extended by developing Intrusion Detection Systems by adopting multiple learning mechanisms. Such systems have addressed better detection rates compared to single learning Intrusion Detection Systems. Dimensionality is one more serious concern which affects the performance of classification algorithms. Approaches such as \"Feature selection\" have been studied and adopted which selects a subset features from the feature set. However, the feature extraction approach for dimensionality reduction has proved to be better compared to feature selection and achieved better classification and detection rates. In this research, we address \"Feature extraction\" using \"Evolutionary feature clustering\" by proposing a \"Novel fuzzy membership function\" which addresses Dimensionality Reduction (DR). The idea is to transform the initial connection representation so that its equivalent representation has reduced noise affect and achieves better classification or detection rates. Experimental results on KDD datasets with 19 and 41 attributes, prove that the proposed approach has improved detection rates for R2L and U2R attack classes when compared to CANN, CLAPP, and SVM approaches. CANN approach recorded lower detection rates w.r.t U2R and R2L attacks. This failure is addressed in our earlier studies through proposing, CLAPP which proved comparatively better accuracy rates to CANN. The fuzzy membership function proposed in this paper, recorded better classification and detection rates in experiments conducted","PeriodicalId":144334,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Fourth International Conference on Engineering & MIS 2018","volume":"97 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113991751","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is known that proper interactions with contents, tutors and peers encourage learning to take place. However, the learner-content process is known to be challenging for online learners who struggle alone to overcome learning difficulties, and which may lead them to drop out from the course. In absence of face to face interactions, the content, being the prime source of knowledge for distant learners, has to be up to date and comprehensive while catering for different learning styles of students. Therefore, this paper aims at investigating whether learners meet the cognitive level as required by the course's learning objectives. Through a questionnaire, 18 online learners were requested to identify their learning activities done in both asynchronous and synchronous modes as part of their learning process. Furthermore, content analysis, using both Activity Theory and the Jaillet & Panchoo grid, was done on four online tutorials to identify if learners study their course materials as desired and if their interactions are of cognitive level. A total of 761 lines of logged textual interactions was coded twice. Results show that learners go through different learning activities as imposed by the module but less emphasis is put on ensuring that learners study the course content before embarking on the assignment. Acquiring the relevant knowledge from the course materials prior to online discussions, will encourage better interactions and learning to take place in this socio-constructivism set up.","PeriodicalId":144334,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Fourth International Conference on Engineering & MIS 2018","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132337481","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main purpose of this work is to compute the electric potential distribution for insulator covered with a thin polluted layer. For more realistic and accurate field modeling, the pollution deposit is treated as a thin layer by introducing both conductivity and permittivity of this layer. FEM commercial software Comsol Multiphysics is first used to compute the potential distribution on a simple plate insulator model and then an analytic solution of the electric potential based on surface currents is proposed. Numerical and analytical results are compared for different ranges of conductivity and permittivity.","PeriodicalId":144334,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Fourth International Conference on Engineering & MIS 2018","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116686298","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
