Universities as ‘knowledge intensive’ organizations thrive on the production and dissemination of knowledge and rely heavily on the human resource component to facilitate, generate and disseminate it. The management of knowledge has become important to the institutions in view of its abundance and this has led to the development of several emerging issues such as the roles played by platforms created for sharing knowledge and cultural factors. Review of literature reveals that the culture of an organization affects how it is able to create a suitable environment to improve the performance of its employees. Knowledge culture represents that part of an organization in which its values, beliefs and norms influence the manner in which knowledge is utilized to attain competitive advantage. A knowledge culture that is supportive in promoting knowledge creation initiatives and sharing of the same is in a better position to build a strong knowledge base. Further review of literature shows that there are limited number of empirical studies that have been done to study the relationship between knowledge culture and employee performance in these institutions. This paper sought to contribute to this growing body of knowledge by determining the nature of this relationship in public universities in Kenya. The study was anchored on the resource-based view. Descriptive survey design was applied and descriptive and inferential statistics used to analyze the data. The target population consisted of 495 employees from 10 public universities in Kenya selected on the basis of their size and age. The study reported a significant and positive relationship between knowledge culture and employee performance when moderated with organizational structure in public universities in Kenya.

In the property trade process, once intermediaries are conscientious, the portrait of matching parties are clearly described, a reasonable and satisfactory result can be got. However, the intermediary moral hazard and the loss of the description about the characteristics of matching parties can affect the matching result. By developing a method for a property transaction platform, this paper proposes a novel approach that considering intermediary moral hazard to improve matching efficiency. A mathematical model of intermediary moral hazard is performed, and then the price and other evaluation indicators of sellers and buyers are described by five different types of value forms. A multi-objective bilateral matching decision-making model that “minimizes the intermediary moral hazard in the case of the maximum benefits of the matching parties” is constructed and solved by the dictionary order method. A real case study of property trade platform is presented to illustrate how the proposed approach could be applied in practice. The results of this research indicate that the proposed approach is a useful tool for matching sellers and buyers under the intermediary moral hazard and has substantial practical application.

The research was conducted in the Kenyan cement industry. The eight cement production companies made up the target population of the research and are located in the counties of Kisumu, Nairobi, Mombasa, Machakos, Nakuru, and Kajiado were the subject of the study. Whereas, the units of observation of the research comprised of all employees in the 7 cement firms. The research, further, used the census method and the stratified random sampling technique to select a sample size of 365 employees included 37 managers, 322 non-managers and 6 CEOs distributed per company. The study data was then gathered using a questionnaire and interview schedule for main data collection and a secondary data collection sheet for secondary data collection. \u0000Findings: The findings of the research revealed that structural decision strategy is one of the operational strategies that is employed by the cement manufacturing firms to influence their organizational performance. This was according to the high level of agreement by most of the respondents noted in the descriptive results. The study also found that structural decision strategies had a positive and significant relationship with organizational performance of cement manufacturing firms in Kenya. The regression results also led to the rejection of the null hypothesis, thus adopting the alternative hypothesis; structural decision strategy has a significant influence on organizational performance of cement manufacturing firms in Kenya. \u0000Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: The theories were relevant to this study as they emphasized on the need to identify both the dysfunctions and functional effects of particular structural arrangements on organizational performance of cement firms. Thus, the theories will also be applicable to other studies with such related research topics. The management of cement firms should effectively take part in the decentralization of management structures and specialization of departments in order to improve managerial efficiency and employee performance. Policymakers should establish operating policies and procedures that are supportive of the firms’ set objectives and goals.

Because the real estate market environment is closely interconnected with the broader society and its diverse forces, the direct and indirect impacts of crises are experienced through changes in real estate market dynamics. In the future, the market environment is expected to be even more challenging, full of complexity, uncertainties, and ambiguities, which will require developing the skills, first, to learn from crises already experienced and then to foresee, prevent, or adapt to ones yet unseen. This article aims to deepen the understanding of how crisis impacts were perceived in the real estate market during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research applies a qualitative approach by interviewing 19 real estate market professionals in Finland to identify the factors influencing market dynamics, such as market sentiments, preferences, and procedures. The results will help market participants understand the diversity of crisis impacts, their interconnections, and how they are perceived. The findings contribute to the real estate literature by offering a qualitative perspective that supports individuals and organizations in developing risk and crisis management skills and contributes to building a more resilient real estate market to support communities.

Bukusi
Purpose: The purpose of this paper was to provide organization leaders and managers with an understanding of transformative operations as a practical approach to successfully navigate chaotic business environments in Africa. \u0000Methodology: The researcher conducted a review of available academic literature, journals, research findings, authoritative policy documents, library books and online business publications related to emergent transformative leadership theory, ubuntu values, organization performance and environmental turbulence in the business context. The author used a thematic analysis of text, qualitative interpretivism of published information and grounded theory to develop a conceptual framework to guide future research in the field. \u0000Findings: The author examined modern societal and scholarly calls for transformative leadership as a suitable model to address the volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous conditions of a chaotic global environment in the 21st century. The literature and empirical research review suggest that implementing transformative operations, alongside practicing ubuntu values, equips organizations to navigate a strategic path through turbulent conditions. These approaches secure a business organization’s survival, sustainability, profitability and market leadership. The author proposes that leading organization performance in an evolving environment is neither a linear process nor a simple planning routine. Rather, it is a transcendent approach to navigating immediate, disruptive, short, medium and long-term challenges to arrive at desired goals. In the process, organizations change, adapt, innovate and transform themselves in order to thrive in the face of evolving environmental conditions. The study proposes a conceptual model for further empirical research on the impact of transformative operations on organization performance. \u0000Recommendations: The study recommend leaders and managers to 1) adopt transformative operations as a strategy to successfully navigate environmental turbulence, 2) to harness the free social energy available in the ubuntu philosophy to leverage institutional performance in public and private business in Africa, 3) use environmental mapping to configure and navigate surrounding force fields, 4) adopt additional performance measures, alongside financial results, to provide a wholistic picture of business success. And finally, the study invite researchers to conduct empirical tests to evaluate the efficacy of the conceptual framework.
