The MRT mapping is highly redundant. A compact unique MRT (UMRT) representation can be derived by eliminating the redundant elements present in the MRT representation. A new approach is presented to compute and place the UMRT coefficients directly from the data, without computing MRT. Each utility uses a different method for pricing energy. The proposed model gives a generalized method for determining energy price for generating companies, independent power producers, regulatory commissions etc. It incorporates both the economic and performance based factors in the pricing model. Also a penalty for deviation from scheduled energy, a new customer based reliability index and Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) benefit are included in the model. The study explores monthly water inflow and the monthly energy generation of a typical hydel energy generator of 24MW capacity operating in the state of Karnataka, India. The model developed is applied to this generator for determining the electricity price. The co-relation between energy price and technical and economic parameters is explored. The lack of a single distribution that is “best “ for all applications has resulted in a proliferation of TFDs, each corresponding to a different, fixed mapping from signals to the time-frequency plane. A major drawback of all fixed mappings is that, for each mapping, the resulting time frequency representation is satisfactory only for a limited class of signals. This drawback has been overcome by using a signal dependent TFD using a radially Gaussian kernel which has been formulated in Cohen's class as an optimisation problem. The conceptual design of a thermoelectric power generation system is described. A DC fan powered by a rechargeable battery drives air into the stove, optimizing the fuel-air ratio to improve heat release and reduce smoke, soot and other pollutants. A 5-watt light emitting diode floodlamp provides steady lighting so that a child may learn in the kitchen. A milliwatt LED is used to sterilize drinking water. A 13-watt thermoelectric converter module operating at 225 degrees Celsius recharges the battery using the heat from the fire. This paper deals the behaviour of interconnected DFIG with hydro-governor synchronous generator with the transient and post-transient operating conditions. A comparative study between the Hysteresis controller and Proportional-Integral controller using PWM techniques for three-phase voltage source inverter was done. The comparison was done in terms of total harmonic distortion (THD) level at the three phase load current. Simulation was done with the help of Matlab-Simulink environment. In the initial stage, the study of DFIG (Doubly Fed Induction Generator) is carried out in order to have a broader understanding of the functions of the back to back converter. Then the design of back to back converter and choice of components is elaborated. The control strategy for the back to back converter is described with equations and the snapshot of the theoretical scheme and scheme implemented in the real life situation are both shown. The control strategy for the grid-side and rotor-side converter is thoroughly elaborated. The implementation of control strategy is done with the help of dSPACE. Being a very new technology in present academic scenario, introduction regarding dSPACE has been made. The dSPACE even though offering some facilities, has some limitations. Hence, the implementation of the present scheme with dSPACE while keeping an eye on the limitation is explained. The necessary adaptation made while using the control strategy are also focused. Mythili","doi":"10.1109/EPSCICON.2012.6175283","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/EPSCICON.2012.6175283","url":null,"abstract":"In this paper an attempt has been made to determine the number of Premature Ventricular Contraction (PVC) cycles accurately from a given Electrocardiogram (ECG) using a wavelet constructed from multiple Gaussian functions. It is difficult to assess the ECGs of patients who are continuously monitored over a long period of time. Hence the proposed method of classification will be helpful to doctors to determine the severity of PVC in a patient. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and a simple classifier have been used in addition to the specially developed wavelet transform. The proposed wavelet has been designed using multiple Gaussian functions which when summed up looks similar to that of a normal ECG. The number of Gaussians used depends on the number of peaks present in a normal ECG. The developed wavelet satisfied all the properties of a traditional continuous wavelet. The new wavelet was optimized using genetic algorithm (GA). ECG records from Massachusetts Institute of Technology-Beth Israel Hospital (MIT-BIH) database have been used for validation. Out of the 8694 ECG cycles used for evaluation, the classification algorithm responded with an accuracy of 97.77%. In order to compare the performance of the new wavelet, classification was also performed using the standard wavelets like morlet, meyer, bior3.9, db5, db3, sym3 and haar.
