This paper discusses the effect of the change in the nominal dimensions on the performance of bellows and guidelines for selection of manufacturing tolerances for the bellows used in various nuclear applications. A set of new guidelines for selection of manufacturing tolerances for various types of bellows (viz. formed and welded disc bellows) under various service loadings was proposed. The rules given in ASME section-III/code case N290 were recommended for all class-1 formed bellows. The guidelines given in EJMA were recommended for the selection of manufacturing tolerances of formed bellows with class-II loading conditions. During the design process, designers often face the challenge of how to most effectively transfer their design concepts during product modelling. If users are unable to clearly perceive the meaning of a product's design, then the product is less desirable. Therefore, the 'resonance' between product design concepts and the product's user is an important indicator of the ultimate success (or lack thereof) of a product. That is, success relies on whether users can understand and accept the concept of the design. In this paper, we performed two experiments to explore whether the explicit and implicit attitudes of users towards vehicular design concepts were consistent. A case study was conducted to investigate this issue using a sports utility vehicle. As a result, multiple companies offer a mix of products and services designed to provide individual solutions. However, due to the complexity of integrated bundles of products and services, new approaches for developing such systems are required and a framework for companies for an efficient interdisciplinary collaboration is needed. By observing and analysing an interdisciplinary student project in which a product-service system was developed, insights regarding interdisciplinary work are obtained and guidelines for collaboration are derived. The results will serve as a basis for organising collaboration in other interdisciplinary projects.
