In order to apply the Floquet-mode technique, a line source excitation is assumed as a spectrum of one-dimensional problems (plane-wave incident). Each rod is modeled by an array of thin wires subject to the ldquosame surface areardquo rule of thumb. It is observed that the Floquet-mode technique is computationally more efficient than the method of moments for a large number of rods.","PeriodicalId":141554,"journal":{"name":"2008 12th International Conference on Mathematical Methods in Electromagnetic Theory","volume":"85 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132720219","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is shown that for the 3D case a simple stackable re-radiating boundary condition (R-RBC) competes with a convolutional perfectly matched layer (CPML). The essence of the R-RBC which based on Field Teleportation technique, is to invoke the principle of equivalent sources using FDTDpsilas discrete definition of the curl to copy any field propagating in one FDTD domain to a finite region of another domain. In this paper we apply this technique of field teleportation to the original 3D domain itself to create a transparent boundary across which any outward traveling FDTD field produces an exact negative copy of itself causing self-canceling. Relatively thin (5 cells) RRBC readily yields absorption of the order of -80 dB in 3D ldquoanechoic chamberrdquo test whereas CPML shows similar performance for a 20-cells layer.","PeriodicalId":141554,"journal":{"name":"2008 12th International Conference on Mathematical Methods in Electromagnetic Theory","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124075308","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
