Despite its profound significance, there is a dearth of research examining its underlying influencing mechanisms. To fill this gap, this study investigates the impact of firms’ digital transformation on firm performance and explores the moderating role of supply chain concentration using a sample of Chinese listed firms from 2011 to 2021. Drawing on transaction cost and knowledge-based theories, digital technologies boost efficiency and flexibility, reduce transaction costs, and enable the leveraging of a diverse resource pool, which ultimately leads to improved performance among supply chain participants. The results indicate a positive contribution of digital transformation to firm performance in China. Notably, the relationship is moderated by supply chain concentration, with digital transformation exerting a more significant effect on firm performance in companies with low customer concentration and high supplier concentration.KEYWORDS: Digital transformationsupply chain concentrationcustomer concentrationsupplier concentrationmoderating effects Disclosure statementNo potential conflict of interest was reported by the author(s).Data availability statementThe data that support the findings of this study are openly available in China’s Stock Market and Accounting Research (CSMAR) database at https://www.gtarsc.com.Additional informationFundingThis paper was supported by the Research Project of Zhejiang Federation of Humanities and Social Sciences Circles [grant number 2024B049]. This study examines how living materials can be provided to a population under quarantine control due to the spread of infectious diseases. First, we present a modified SEIR model for predicting the number of people and materials demanded. Considering the dynamic evolution and other characteristics of infectious diseases, and the resulting demand uncertainty, we develop a robust optimization model for a multi-period dynamic emergency materials supply chain network with the objective of minimising total cost. We then transform it into a solvable robust counterpart model, propose a dynamic adjustment strategy, and cope with it using the Rolling Horizon approach to obtain dynamic location and materials distribution decisions. Finally, we conduct a case study of the Shanghai epidemic in 2022 to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of our model and method.KEYWORDS: Major infectious disease epidemicsmodified SEIR modelemergency materials supply chain networkrobust optimizationuncertain budget adjustmentrolling horizon approach Data availability statementThe data of this study are available upon request from the corresponding author.Disclosure statementNo potential conflict of interest was reported by the author(s).Ethics approvalThis article does not contain any studies with human participants or animals performed by any of the authors.Additional informationFundingThis work was supported by Key program of The National Social Science Fund of China [grant number 20AJY016].","PeriodicalId":14018,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Logistics Research and Applications","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135729797","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

From this perspective, in this study, a structured literature review on extant studies related to supply chain resilience in the past decade is conducted. Given a general descriptive analysis and an in-depth content analysis in terms of problem-oriented and methodology-driven dimensions, the research progress for building resilient supply chains is depicted. Then, following a ‘why-what-how’ logic, revisiting of the Triple-A (alignment, agility and adaptiveness), Triple-P (product complexity, process complexity and partnership complexity) and Triple-R (readiness, responsiveness and restoration) frameworks are conducted to sort out the challenges and research gaps for the development of supply chain resilience across the globe. There are many solutions to achieve a sustainable LML, as it depends on the characteristics and goals of each city. This study develops a weighting framework incorporating expert judgments and the contextual urban environment to identify the key criteria when evaluating sustainable LML solutions. The framework is applied in six European cities to examine how the sensitivity of the urban context influences the weights assigned to these criteria. By analysing the variations in weights, the study aims to understand the impact of contextual factors on the importance of different aspects of LML. We found that social and environmental sustainability are essential criteria. The urban context significantly influences the sustainability of different solutions, as each city has its own priorities and challenges. The methodology defined in this paper may contribute to helping policymakers to promote sustainable LML.","PeriodicalId":14018,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Logistics Research and Applications","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135743900","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Survey data from China is used to test the mediating role of supply chain agility and integration as well as the moderating effect of perceived business force. The findings reveal that supply chain agility mediates the effects of digital transformation on economic and social performance, particularly under high level of perceived business force. However, no significant effect on environmental performance is observed. Additionally, supply chain integration acts as a mediator for the effects of digital transformation on economic, social and environmental performance, furthermore, the moderated mediation effects of perceived business force are supported. Digitalisation creates conditions for the emergence of new technologies, leading to heightened anticipation in this dynamic setting. However, their effects on firm performance are inconsistent. This study adopts the ‘Strategy-Structure-Capabilities-Performance’ framework to investigate how firms align the anticipation of new technologies (strategy), horizontal integration (structure), and agility (capability) to achieve remarkable operational and environmental performance. Data from a high-performance manufacturing database was used to identify 195 firms across 15 countries. The proposed model was assessed through regression and structural equation modelling. The findings imply that: (1) anticipation of new technologies contributes to the development of agility, (2) this anticipation, when aligned with horizontal integration, further enhances agility, and (3) increased agility can significantly improve both operational and environmental performance.KEYWORDS: Anticipation of new technologieshorizontal integrationagilitystrategy structure capabilities performance perspectivesustainabilityhigh performance manufacturing Data availability statementData are available on request from the authors.Disclosure statementNo potential conflict of interest was reported by the authors.","PeriodicalId":14018,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Logistics Research and Applications","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135538599","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ensuring a successful transition requires radical changes in our current siloed approach to applying circular business models. Such models aim to mitigate negative environmental impact whilst fostering growth and prosperity. This research focuses on three models (‘Circular Supply’, ‘Resource Recovery’ and ‘Product-Life-Extension’). It aims to explore their collaborative aspects and influencing factors in the transition process towards circular ecosystems. By applying the theoretical lens of Social Capital Theory, with its characteristics of bonding, linking and bridging, findings revealed a snapshot of current circular practices in various industry sectors. In addition, the influencing factors for the specific Circular Business Models were identified based on the seven categories of: (1) Awareness/Social/Community; (2) Circular Workplace Environment; (3) Circular Material; (4) Customer and Market demand; and (5) Business and political standards, (6) Perception and individual standards/expertise, and (7) Communication skills.
