Laser Milling Zirconia For Fixed Restoration Construction; Narrative Review","authors":"Raafat Abd El-Rhman Tammam Attia,","doi":"10.19070/2377-8075-210001044","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.19070/2377-8075-210001044","url":null,"abstract":"The aim of This review article compares the use of a computer-aided design (CAD) system, and laser milling in fabricating dental prostheses made of zirconia ceramics (TZP).Since Land made the first all-ceramic crown with low-strength feldspar porcelain in 1903 [1] , dental all-ceramic restoration materials' mechanical and aesthetic properties have been significantly evolved. Therefore, In dental clinics, these are commonly utilized. Many ways for fabricating all-ceramic dental restorations have recently been developed [2] . All-ceramic materials, on the other hand, are fragile and difficult to work with due to their high hardness and low fracture toughness. Zirconia ceramics are utilized in dental restorations because of their strong mechanical qualities, which allow them to be employed as entire ceramic restorations for long-span bridges. Milling fully sintered Zirconia might be difficult because of its extreme hardness. Instead, a CAD/CAM system is used to grind a partially sintered zirconia block, which is then sintered in a furnace. Sintering results in a linear shrinkage of 15% to 30%. [3] . For the softer partially sintered stone, milling efficiency is improved. To avoid restorative unfitnesscaused by sintering shrinkage, scanning operation, and milling [4] ., laser machining of high-hardness Zirconia is employed. Stem cells have the ability to differentiate into multiple cell lineages. Stem cells are fascinat-ing cells as both embryonic and somatic stem cells when introduced into a specific part of the body can differentiate into the required cell type. Thereby, help in replacing damaged tissue and restoring tissue function. There are a multitude of cells that are a part of the embryogenesis of the orofacial region that retain pluripotent ability. The dental stem cells are an easily accessible source for stem cells. These cells, when isolated and cultured can be stimulated to proliferate and form viable tissues through chemical or virally induced methods. However, the potential of dental stem cells in treating dental disorders and diseases is less explored. The objective of this review is to recapitulates the various cells of the orofacial region with pluripotent potential and their application in treating oral and dental disorders. This paper also renders an insight into Biobanking and tissue engineering pertaining to dental tissues. This prospective clinical study included 139 patients between 11-16 years old (66 boys and 73 girls) and requested to complete the questionnaires before the start of treatment (T0), one year after the start of treatment(T1), and at two months retention follow up(T2). One –way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used for comparisons between the pre, mid and post-treatment means of the study group and to study the significance of changes in parameters over time (for both OHRQoL and SE measures). Pairwise comparison between the individual groups was made'Post – hoc Scheffe test.' Spearman's rank-order correlation coefficient (ρ) was used to evaluate the associa tion between the two ordinal variables. The level of significance was set at a p-value of 0.05 for all tests.The mean value for overall OHRQoL was increased at mid-treatment and decreased at post-treatment, which is significant (p<0.001). The mean value for overall Self- esteem was decreased at mid-treatment and post-treatment, which is also significant (p<0.001). Oral health-related quality of life increased after orthodontic treatment compared to mid-treatment but comparatively less than at pre-treatment, which is statistically significant.
