First, we propose the condition on patenting the novel combination of prior disclosed computer programs. Second, we propose the condition on proper specification of the parameter setting components as patentable computer programs. Finally, we propose the condition on protecting the numerical parametric values as trade secret in patentable parameter setting components. We also show the case study for its feasibility check of our formulation.","PeriodicalId":139145,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Internet and Web Applications and Services","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114637400","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The requirements for interlinking of grids have already been studied from a general point of view. In this paper, we analyse current practice in grid interactions and show evidence of how grid interactions may represent a barrier for interlinking of grids. Our proposal consists of three combined aspects: a) explicitly modelling the interactions (what we call interaction protocols), b) decoupling the execution flow of services from their interactions with other services and c) services have to be able to dynamically select the interaction protocol at the time they have decided to interact with another party. Next, for a clarifying purpose, we show how DVega, an application built on the proposed principles, can use these features as the foundations for interacting with disparate services from different grids in a flexible and dynamic way.","PeriodicalId":139145,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Internet and Web Applications and Services","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125802286","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Only parts of the eLearning development process are supported by IT. As an effect, this may lead to a lower quality in eLearning material and courses, which in turn makes the possibility of participating in eLearning courses a rather unattractive option. In aiming to achieve a higher quality for eLearning-based courses, we introduce a conceptual model - the course creation model - that serves as a guideline for designing, realizing, and evaluating eLearning processes. This model is applied with eduWEAVER, a Web application that integrates design, development, and deployment of eLearning scenarios.","PeriodicalId":139145,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Internet and Web Applications and Services","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121459534","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Xiang","doi":"10.1109/ICIW.2008.31","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/ICIW.2008.31","url":null,"abstract":"The unlimited growth of supply chain finance data will inevitably lead to a situation in which it is increasingly difficult to access the desired information. Supply chain finance is often necessary to analyze large data sets, maintained over geographically bank, supplier and customer distributed sites by using cooperative context-aware distributed data mining (DDM) systems. The study of the existing approaches shows that no single solution fulfills all requirements identified for the cooperative context-aware DDM systems. One of the basic obstacles is the lack of context-aware and supporting some of the computational resources - such as data and information bases, computational models, compute power to execute these models, specialized data mining algorithms - required to develop a new compound is not available locally, but accessible via the global computing network infrastructure. This paper proposes a multi-agent-based architecture for supply chain finance cooperative distributed data mining systems. The use of multi-agent-systems (MAS) creates a framework which allows the inter-operation of a vast set of heterogeneous solutions to carry out the complex supply chain finance context-aware distributed data mining tasks, many data mining tasks to connect heterogeneous resources, as data sources, processing nodes and end user applications. It considers a data warehousing that supports context-aware OLAP queries, ensuring the interoperability of all data sources, and then focuses on distributed clustering algorithms and some potential applications in multi-agent-based problem solving scenarios. Finally, we outline the implementation of a prototype for shoes manufacturing.","PeriodicalId":139145,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Internet and Web Applications and Services","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121914908","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although the number of existing information security risk management methodologies is enormous, in practice a lot of resources are invested by organizations in creating new information security risk management methodologies. This is a crucial knowledge- intensive process for organizations, but in most cases it is addressed in an ad hoc manner. We believe that the existence of a systematic approach for the development of new (and the improvement of existing) information security risk management methodologies would enhance the effectiveness of the process. In this paper we propose a systematic meta-process for developing new, or improving existing, information security risk management methods. We also present our vision for a collaboration and knowledge-sharing platform capable of supporting a virtual intra-organizational cross-disciplinary team, which aims at improving information security risk management methodologies by adopting the proposed meta-process.","PeriodicalId":139145,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Internet and Web Applications and Services","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121483589","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays, DHT algorithms are a powerful building block when designing distributed behaviors. However, sometimes DHTs are not flexible enough and problems arise when an efficient lookup in the DHT structure itself -instead of in the stored data- is required. Our motivation scenario is the resource discovery problem in a decentralized and distributed caching architecture, deployed in a set of clusters built from cheap off-the-shelf computers organized in a DHT overlay network. In this paper we present the design of a resource discovery service layered on the underlying DHT and based on the combination of(1) an spanning-tree built mapping DHT nodes to their parents in a bottom-up fashion, and (2) a set of routing indices which allow nodes to efficiently lookup other nodes in the DHT overlay network, matching some resource constraints This service does not alter the underlying DHT behavior, it scales to large wide area systems and it tracks both relatively static and frequently changing resources. Furthermore, the results of the experiments conducted to evaluate the good performance and scalability of the architecture are also presented.","PeriodicalId":139145,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Internet and Web Applications and Services","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128880028","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Service producers advertise their services through the UDDI. From a QoS perspective, a service consumer needs to know if a service will meet his or her requirements for which various web services are contracted. In terms of a security perspective, a service consumer that obtains services for which they are unable to pay establishes a security concern for service producers. The requirement of the secure quality of services for Web services (S-QoS4WS) needs a mechanism to enable service consumers and producers to establish trust in their prospective partners prior to engaging in any service for which payment or quality of service is required. For this purpose, we propose a S-QoS4WS approach that utilizes 'PublisherAssertion' tags within the UDDI to satisfy security and QoS issues. This approach makes use of existing mechanisms within UDDI version 3 to resolve current issues involving trust and non-repudiation.","PeriodicalId":139145,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Internet and Web Applications and Services","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129861897","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
