It is also increasing its broadband capabilities with the penetration of 3G. As increased penetration and bandwidth leverage mobile application business opportunities, it is important to identify methodologies for serving mobile-specific demands. Regularity is one of the important means of retaining and enclosing easy-come, easy-go mobile users. Users with multiple visits in one day and over a long interval are known to have a higher possibility of revisiting in the following month than other users. The author expands this empirical law to weekly behaviors in the mobile broadband services. Weekly analysis allows for relaxation of processing timing in commercial services. The results show that the method proposed for text-based mobile services is also applicable mobile video services in the mobile broadband context.","PeriodicalId":138929,"journal":{"name":"2010 Ninth International Conference on Mobile Business and 2010 Ninth Global Mobility Roundtable (ICMB-GMR)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114983120","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Little research has gone beyond this to explore in depth how the elements of law and technology have interacted in various circumstances and thus evolved into their current forms. This paper will explore the relationship between these two elements for one specific technology, namely Digital Rights Management (DRM) Systems in online and mobile services in the music industry and the laws related to it. It will present a layered approach for the exploration of how these two elements have interacted and evolved into the shape and form they are today in order to inform ongoing research on the law-technology relationship and the development of theories within the IS field in general.","PeriodicalId":138929,"journal":{"name":"2010 Ninth International Conference on Mobile Business and 2010 Ninth Global Mobility Roundtable (ICMB-GMR)","volume":"170 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125176135","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The infrastructure consists of a generic task model (TM) and software tool-TM Designer-which allow a modeler to create task models that support tracking smart phone users and analyzing their use of smart phone applications. The syntax of the TM include smart phones applications, goals of applications, screens included in each application, and the possible transitions from any goal or screen to another goals and screens. In addition, the TM includes physical representations of the TM components for aligning and matching the logic TM with the physical smart phone while tracking the phone usage. Since the TM aims at modeling various smart phone applications for different mobile devices, a specific inheritance mechanism was developed to enable the reuse of TM components. Based on the tracked usage data, the service provider will be able to learn about the efficiency of the smart phone usage, predict the intentions of the users while operating the device, and provide appropriate help. In addition, the gathered usage information will enable discovering patterns of use of various applications, and predict users' interests in existing and new smart phone services and applications.","PeriodicalId":138929,"journal":{"name":"2010 Ninth International Conference on Mobile Business and 2010 Ninth Global Mobility Roundtable (ICMB-GMR)","volume":"193 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121737718","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An integrated model comprising of seven factors was developed and tested through the execution of a national telephone survey (N=139). The results of the survey suggest that the emotional state of individuals while using mobile Internet, social influence from their peers, and their personal innovativeness comprise the predictive factors of adoption behavior. Moreover, the study reveals that performance expectancy is a strong predictor of mobile Internet adoption mediated through individuals’ emotional state. The paper concludes with a critical discussion of the results comparing the study findings with past mobile data services studies.","PeriodicalId":138929,"journal":{"name":"2010 Ninth International Conference on Mobile Business and 2010 Ninth Global Mobility Roundtable (ICMB-GMR)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123632434","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although there is a wealth of academic literature examining mobile payment, the existing mobile payment processes are lack of trust mechanisms, and there are no unified standards for physical and virtual mobile payments. Furthermore, in current mobile payment pattern, applications are difficult to be connected with banks. To solve this problem, this paper gives a general framework of online mobile payment and presents a new mobile payment pattern which advocates stratified extension and cascading agent based on stable and credible platform group. It also proposes a cross-bank unified payment platform to solve the difficulties of connection to banks. As a result, we can get regular, effective and monitoring payment process which is of great maneuverability. The mobile payment process will be more reasonable and the transaction will be more secure.","PeriodicalId":138929,"journal":{"name":"2010 Ninth International Conference on Mobile Business and 2010 Ninth Global Mobility Roundtable (ICMB-GMR)","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126134229","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

LBSN is the convergence between location based services (LBS) and online social networking (OSN). LBSN applications offer users the ability to look up the location of another “friend” remotely using a smart phone, desktop or other device, anytime and anywhere. Users invite their friends to participate in LBSN and there is a process of consent that follows. Friends have the ability to alter their privacy settings to allow their location to be monitored by another at differing levels of accuracy (e.g. suburb, pinpoint at the street address level, or manual location entry). This paper explores the impact of LBSN upon society, especially upon trust between friends. The study used focus groups to collect data, and a qualitative approach towards analysis. The paper concludes that while there are a great many positive uses of LBSN, there are some significant problems with current applications, and that better design is required to ensure that these technologies are not exploited against a user to commit harm.","PeriodicalId":138929,"journal":{"name":"2010 Ninth International Conference on Mobile Business and 2010 Ninth Global Mobility Roundtable (ICMB-GMR)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129555954","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays, in consideration of screen size and navigability, current PC web search engines and information retrieval approaches may hardly be transplanted onto mobile search platforms directly. This paper presents an efficient approach to retrieving a compact set of differentiated documents which is information equivalent to the set of all documents satisfying query criteria. In doing so, based upon the idea [7] that extracts a representative document from each class derived from the transitive closure of a documents’ similarity matrix, the paper proposes an incremental strategy to deal with the computational complexity in generating the transitive closure and respective classes, which becomes crucial in massive data and mobile search applications. Theoretical analysis and data experiments show the advantage of the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":138929,"journal":{"name":"2010 Ninth International Conference on Mobile Business and 2010 Ninth Global Mobility Roundtable (ICMB-GMR)","volume":"257 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132441324","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study attempts to understand factors affecting the adoption of mobile virtual community in addition to those affecting other mobile services. An adoption model that reflects the characteristics of mobile virtual community is developed. The model consists of the factors in virtual community and common mobile services and is tested both in China and Korea. Our findings show that perceived cost, perceived ease of use and social influence will affect intention to use significantly. Social capital and trust are crucial factors affecting perceived usefulness in mobile virtual community. We also find that the adoption patterns in China and Korea have great differences. In Korea adopters put more weight on perceived cost, perceived ease of use and perceived similarity, while in China adopters put more weight on perceived playfulness and familiarity.","PeriodicalId":138929,"journal":{"name":"2010 Ninth International Conference on Mobile Business and 2010 Ninth Global Mobility Roundtable (ICMB-GMR)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128822884","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
