But the importance of Soft Skills is intensified with the increasing volume of disruptions people are exposed to in the global volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) environment affecting life and the workplace of the 21st century. The 2020 COVID-19 pandemic that caught the world unaware is just a recent example that reveals how people are affected by sudden threats and uncertainty. This chapter analyzes the importance and implications of Soft Skills to learn from failure, an attitude that has been suppressed and marginalized but needs urgent activation to face unavoidable disruption in the VUCA environment. It considers dealing with failure as a tool needed for survival in uncertain and volatile environments. Virtual reality offers several advantages to complement Soft Skills learning creating simulations of reality to engage learners that may include intricate discussions with team members, conflicting situations, practicing listening skills, empathy and agility. Furthermore, the COVID-19 pandemic is inducing the shift to virtual interactions that will increasingly replace face-to-face meetings and will require a constant change in Soft Skills.
