One possible approach is to utilize smart sensors as described in the IEEE 1451 family of standards. In this paper we describe a software development environment for prototyping a 1451 smart sensor. The development environment consists of Gensym G2 to model a sensor gateway and Python for prototyping a sensor protocol stack. Python's strong built-in networking support for TCP and UDP make it a good choice for implementing a protocol stack. Additionally, we are developing an Ethereal dissector for 1451 protocol development and debugging.","PeriodicalId":137779,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE Sensors Applications Symposium","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127507834","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Emphasis is put on how low-cost sensors are used to characterize coins (or tokens) and discriminate them from their counterfeits.","PeriodicalId":137779,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE Sensors Applications Symposium","volume":"393 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124325117","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
