Project-based learning media can be used and utilized easily by teachers and students during direct teaching and learning activities. In addition, they can be used by students online as a source of student learning to increase independence, motivation, and better learning outcomes. This research aims to develop project-based learning media so students can easily understand the material and be directly involved in project activities. This study uses the ADDIE development model. The resulting product is the validity of project-based learning media on statistical material for vocational students. The first step in this research is to create a flowchart as a media flow and then interpret it using PowerPoint media. The validation of learning media results that have been carried out through the validator obtained an average score of 3.65 with a decent category for media and an average score of 3.85 for material with a very decent category.","PeriodicalId":137292,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Research on Mathematics Instruction (JRMI)","volume":"187 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121022858","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The data collection technique used a problem-solving ability test on the Pythagorean theorem material and a mathematical resilience questionnaire. The sample of this research is the VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 39 Pekanbaru. This study's problem-solving ability category is based on the students' mathematical resilience ability in high and medium categories. The ability to solve mathematical problems of students with high mathematical resilience is better than those with moderate category resilience abilities. Based on the results of the research that has been done, the level of mathematical problem-solving ability of the students of SMP Negeri 39 Pekanbaru is still very low on the 1st question point, with a score of 6%. In the second question, students' ability to solve mathematical problems is classified as moderate, with a score of 55%. In the third question, students' ability to solve mathematical problems is very low, namely getting a score of 38%.","PeriodicalId":137292,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Research on Mathematics Instruction (JRMI)","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127818098","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the initial research, it appears that the teacher is still not maximally teaching according to the syntax or PMR steps. This is because the teacher does not understand the PMR learning tools that the teacher has just obtained, but the teacher has understood them in the next meeting. Students/students also have problems understanding the syntax of learning steps. This apparent difficulty is because students also get a different learning approach than usual. It is also seen that students have difficulty expressing their ability to read pictures or read problems. The researcher applies a modified four-dimensional model Thiagarajan, Semmel, and Semmel to produce relevant teaching materials. The teaching materials obtained consisted of (1) lesson plans, (2) teacher guidelines, (3) student books, (4) student activity sheets, and (5) learning outcomes tests. The experiment results found that the realistic mathematical approach was effective in functional learning in class VIII students of SMPN 1 Sungai Lala, Riau Province.","PeriodicalId":137292,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Research on Mathematics Instruction (JRMI)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129420038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In doing math problems, there are still many students who make mistakes in solving the questions given by the teacher. Students' difficulty in answering questions, one of which is influenced by mathematical communication skills. The method used is descriptive qualitative, which is analyzed from the instrument in the form of 5 written test questions in the form of description questions. The subjects studied were 22 students. This research was conducted on Thursday, October 21st 2021, at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Al Muhajrin Tapung, 2021/2022, totalling 13 female and nine male students. In this study, there are three indicators used, namely 1) mathematical expressions, which are everyday events that are expressed in mathematical concepts and mathematical symbols, 2) drawing, which is mathematical ideas that can be expressed in terms of mathematical concepts. In the form of pictures, and 3) writing (written text) that can show and explain everyday events into mathematical models and mathematical language. From the results of mathematical communication skills based on gender with these three indicators, female students have higher mathematical communication skills than male students. The average percentage for female students is 70.8%, and the percentage of male students is 52.75%. Through mathematics, students are trained to have a mathematical understanding which will be the basis for creating problem-solving abilities. Although online learning is also balanced with many accesses to get additional deepening of material through internet media, in reality, students cannot digest all the knowledge provided through the internet media. From the difficulty of understanding this learning, the impact is that students have difficulty developing mathematical understanding abilities, which affects student learning outcomes. There is a need to increase the ability of mathematical understanding. The purpose of this study is to describe the students' mathematical understanding ability on Trigonometry material with indicators that will be described are indicators of instrumental understanding and relational indicators.
