This is result of reliance on fossil fuels, construction materials and excessive consumption of natural resources that cause an increase in greenhouse gas emissions. Concept of green buildings has emerged with sustainable trends in fields of architecture and urban planning. It is considered an integrated architecture with environment and nature. It reduces pollution rate to 1/6 of world's CO2 emissions. It provides a safe, comfortable and healthy environment for human and reduces the consumption and preservation of natural resources, for future generations by recycling waste, wastewater, roofs and green facades, and use of suitable building materials with the environment, as well as integrated design with buildings and urban context in terms of formation and direction of buildings and use of sustainable building materials and use of renewable energy and others. The climate in Iraq, especially in summer, is characterized by high temperatures. It is more than 50 °c, with winter temperatures dropping and uneven significantly between summer and winter, so we need buildings that consider the requirements of human thermal comfort, reduce energy consumption and natural resources, and provide a healthy and psychological environment, to reduces emissions harmful to environment. There are many obstacles to establishment of green buildings in Iraqi cities, most important of which are laws and legislation that require its legislation to suit technological advances in architecture, as well as technical, and social constraints and others.","PeriodicalId":135797,"journal":{"name":"The Iraqi Journal of Architecture and Planning","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116654674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research deal with the definition of urban centers , patterns and the need for its establishment , to build a knowledge base that contributed to the diagnosis of the main problem of research (Lack of clarity on the problems of determining the structures of an integrated structure for urban centers) and to solve this problem this research requires a number of studies and hypotheses about the urban centers, And its structure and morphology, as well as the transformations that occur in the urban centers of these cites, its dimensions, aspect, and its reasons to reach the goal of research (Achieving a comprehensive theoretical framework on the transformations of urban centers and their structural structure). Thus, the basic hypothesis of research) Integrity of the formal structure of the urban center is realized by activating the center and re-organization of elements of the physical structure). The research adopted a descriptive analytical approach to discuss the research problem by taking Studies and suggestions on urban centers to extract basic Meanings and Build a comprehensive theoretical framework on the integration of the formal structure of urban centers. And application of the theoretical framework to the study area (Al-Mutanabi district).it was selected for the rapid pace of formal transformation and accelerated growth as a new urban center in the city of Baghdad. The research has concluded that the formal structure of the urban center is achieved by rearranging the elements of the physiognomy structure by achieving the concept of gradation of functional motifs This requires constant a controlled boundaries of urban center and a functional adaptive urban pattern .","PeriodicalId":135797,"journal":{"name":"The Iraqi Journal of Architecture and Planning","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127260103","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each generation has its own intellectual and technological specificity . In the context of this intellectual environment will discuss the sustainable climate system affecting the vocabulary of design, and how to achieve the comfort of the human in two different times; the first heritage of the old and the other contemporary .And how we can draw the basic concepts of this system at both times to conclude the different climatic treatments of the Environmental Design between the past and present. The ultimate goal of all this is the comfort of man . The research assumes that there is an important impact of temporal privacy and all that is linked culturally, socially and technologically to the possibility of benefiting from the environmental design treatments available in architecture aimed at achieving human comfort . Therefore, the objective of the research is to confirm this hypothesis through a series of appropriate contextual data. The search results will support the hypothesis . It recommends the adoption of environmental design within the intellectual and technological context of the era. With the need to move away from the environmental solutions of earlier times in the design of the contemporary urban environment because of the difference (intellectual technological) between them. And replace it by taking advantage of the general principles of heritage solutions at the environmental, intellectual or technological level from a sustainable environmental and climatic perspective.","PeriodicalId":135797,"journal":{"name":"The Iraqi Journal of Architecture and Planning","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114340089","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is a different ways to reduce operation consumption of energy and life cycle emission like using insulated wall and glazing. So the research problem will be “the need of applied research that compare the energy consumption of energy and emissions change in masonry building when using different thermal performance skins”. So the goal of the research is “measure and compare Building energy consumption in operation phase and emissions in life cycle of Masonry Building”. The conclusion of this research is that the possibility to reduce energy used in building to 44.8% and reducing emission to 56.4% using cavity wall and insulation in Masonry Building. Assessed by Life Cycle Assessment method.","PeriodicalId":135797,"journal":{"name":"The Iraqi Journal of Architecture and Planning","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123149888","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
